Republicans are worried about the election
I have come to the conclusion that the Republicans are getting really worried. In the past 4 months, I have gotten at least 10 mailings from the RNC and Bush campaigns.
It seems kind of odd to target me for a couple of reasons. First, I live in Texas which should be a sure bet for Bush. Perhaps they only want my money. Second, I am not even a US citizen yet (haha, keep on wasting your money on me). I will hopefully get my citizenship before November, so I can try to make a difference. Let me add, I was happy that Bush beat Gore four years ago, but I am can't support another four years of his policies. Gotta go, I need to study the Naturalization test. Who was the first President of the US btw? j/k

I'm sure that you're right. (Pun intended).

I think you're right - Republicans are getting worried. The polls are tightening up.
But it strikes me as very funny that the Democrats are getting hysterical and overjoyed because their candidate is now... competitive. "We're gonna win!" ...no, wait... "We've got a shot!" ...hmmm. how about... "We might have a chance!" Not really a compelling rallying cry, but that's what they've got at the moment. I like a close race. It makes both sides realize that they better tone down the wacky rhetoric. The base of both parties is still sort of toward the center.

No, it really is close at the moment. In fact Kerry has a little lead going. It's just a fact. There is a glaring problem for him though, alot of his voters are not for him, they are against the status quo. Don't take this to mean GWB, I mean the situations we are in, economic, war, etc... and there is plenty of time for both of those to turn around, atleast one of them already is. I think when polled they are getting alot of "I'm so upset with how things are going I'm gonna vote for the nitwit, just to teach em a lesson" types. In the end their conscience will get the better of them. People just wont be able to pull the lever for such a phony when it comes down to it. Now, keep in mind they may just stay home too, big problem for W. I predict (drumroll) Kerry will receive 40.5% of the popular vote in the end.

Every presidential election is a battle for the center.

It is all about timing. Bush 1 peaked too soon. Bush 2 is biding his time.
lendaddy...he wanted the first president not the best,

According to my understanding, conservative candidates do best when there is low voter turnout. And vice versa. Can anybody show me different?

Sup, you are correct, I was referring to moderate republicans staying at home being bad for Bush.

To add, you would likey attribute this to the peoples voice not being heard I am sure. Where as I would say in low voter turnout elections, those who vote are more educated in the election and see a vested interest rather than truckloads of care-nots being bribed with beer to vote
