Baby got a new set of wheels!

Got a new toy for my wife:

Got boost?

'Concept color' interior:

Specs: 2003 new Beetle 1.8 Turbo (left-over on the showroom floor). Concept leather interior, Electronic LSD, ASR traction control, sunroof, CD changer, 17" wheels.

It may not be a Porsche, but it puts on smile on my wife's face. If she's happy, I'm happy!

-Zoltan.

A battery powered turbocharged toy for the wife.

I have always said WHATEVER it takes to keep a smile on their face.

Nice ride, BTW.

I just realized what the interior reminds me of.

The Designo interior on all the high end Mercedes Sports.

I think they are exactly the same - I was wondering the same thing.

Yep, very similar.

The Turbo emblem is similar to the Porsche turbo emblem, but the VW turbo starts with a capital "T"

Speaking of similar, those seats look a lot like SC sport seats to me!

Oh, and I vote you should get her these wheels, but paint the centers red to match :

if you go back far enough in Porsche history (early 70's) you'll see a connection between Piech (the nephew) and Porsche (the uncle and cousin). That's why the 914 was made under both Porsche and VW. That's why the Touareg shares parts w/ Cayenne. Piech went on to run VW and I think the "beetle" was made under his watch. The Turbo script is probably his own little joke (just for a chuckle) or maybe VW intentionally wanted to hold on to their Porsche connection. After all, 911s are beetles on steroids.

Cool car.

FWIW, a friends wife had a Turbo Beetle, 2nd year out. They had a chronic problem with stalling at highway speed. They never figured out the problem. It scared them to the point of selling. I was told that it was a common problem at the time but that could be inaccurate.

I don't want to be negative just thought I'd share something you may want to be aware of.

RickM:
From what I've read, the earlier new Beeltle Turbos did have electrical issues - that could be why your friend's wife had stalling issues.

I believe they've corrected this problem by now.
