parallel motorcycle stunt thread

my brother is a policeman in el paso texas. he called me last night to vent the latest trend in motorcycle ownership in that town. turns out, the local bike radicals have felt rather invincible. they are removing the license plates for stealth and are doing whatever they please. they feel they can escape any four wheeled pursuit vehicle. the other night, a car tried to stop a yamaha R6, and the fool made a run for it. he crossed an interesection at 100mph against a red light. he t-boned another car. my brother said the body was destroyed. it was hard to see it as human. he will forward me a pic of the motorcycle later. the town is upset because a 23 year old lost his life needlessly. i feel, better because stupidity can be bred out. even in us humans.

Unfixed, you feel better because this 23 year old was killed???

singpilot 06-01-2004 03:18 PM

I do.

Nature weeding out the stupid.

motion 06-01-2004 03:22 PM

  :(

singpilot 06-01-2004 03:34 PM

Richard!

knew you'd like that.

This trolling for a rise outta someone is interesting from this side...

OH WAIT! I forgot the nature weeding out the stupid rule.....

Nevermind....

motion 06-01-2004 03:53 PM

Had me worried there, singpilot.... hey, about this nature weeding out the stupid rule. Are you implying.... ?!?

Not sure about unfixed, though.

singpilot 06-01-2004 03:59 PM

naw... unfixed is unaffected by 'the rule'.

Not implying about you either.

If I had gone down the troll road, I would have been setting myself up.

Next thing I would have been voting Democratic with somebody else's conscience.

Haha, here we go again!

Gawd, that feels good to troll. No wonder those guys do that.

vash 06-02-2004 09:31 AM

actually, i have been thinking about this a bit. i guess when i was in my early 20's i did some damn stupid schit. i didnt die. i didnt deserve to die, and neither did this 23 year old. none of my stupid stunts can even compare to crossing against the red @ 100. though. i never meant to be a troll. just that, i am very passionate about some things that are somewhat socially controversial. ex. hunting, highspeed motorcycles...
it chaps my arse when something happens that paints these activities in a bad light. now i bet money el paso newspapers are printing articles on how dangerous streetbikes are. and my poor mother needs to read this and think that both her sons will go on the occasional sunday morning ride with friends.

motion, i love reading your posts. you lead my dream life with the bikes in the dining room (except the harley). if my story was about two 23 year olds, out in the woods poaching deer. and one of them shot and killed the other while one guy was carrying an illegal deer over his shoulders (case of major stupidity)? still not trolling :)

singpilot 06-02-2004 09:34 AM

unfixed, I think you misinterpreted my trolling comment.

I didn't mean you. I meant me.

I didn't think the original comment was trolling.... in any way!

vash 06-02-2004 09:45 AM

well, i guess i just felt like a troll. didnt want to piss any friends off. this one hit home because of my last motorcycle accident. i barely ride anymore. and i get nervous for my baby brother, he rides like crap.

motion 06-04-2004 06:02 AM

I've been in a bunch of motorcycle accidents myself and I suppose I've always been lucky to walk away. Most of them were in my youth when I came into a corner too fast and crashed, without effecting anyone else. I did some really stupid things when I was in my 20s, definitely. Nothing like blowing red lights at a 100, but sometimes its just irrational exuberance for young people. Sorry to see that this kid paid with his life. But happy that others weren't hurt in the process.

I need to weed my garden this weekend.

Stupid poison ivy growing everywhere!

}{arlequin 06-04-2004 07:13 AM

from my two crashes (a mild and a HEAVY lowside) I've learned more than I thought I would. Not only bike control, but also what else to look out for when riding (there's so much to "take in" already, but it taught me that there is always more) Painful on the body, painful on the wallet, but very very informative. :)
