Napa Valley stay suggestions for a friend
I was shootin the breeze with a friend last night and she mentioned that she was going to the Nappa Valley area on the 25th and 26th of this month and had no clue where to go. Knowing that many Californians frequent this board I volunteered to ask for advice.
I think she's in her late thirties, single and is probably going with a girlfriend. Here's what she's looking for: "I'm looking to find a nice little reasonably priced resort in a desirable location. Fairly close to some fun restaurants and winerys where we can find some activity." By activity I assume she means bar/club/shopping/tours/sightseeing........??? ![]() Any recommendations? If it's something only known to locals that would be cool too. As always, thanks.

Calistoga is a really nice little town (at the northern tip of the valley). I wouldn't expect too much out of the bar/club thing, although Napa has some really good restaurants. More like wine tasting then passing out in the sun.

Sanoma is another hit, or stay in SFO at the Hyat regancy and then go on day trips to the valley, better action down town, the valley kinda shuts down.

two women in their thirties would have way more fun going to san francisco. then just hop the "wine train" for a tour of napa. maybe rent a car drive to napa, hit osmosis, a really sweet day spa for some r&r.

Domaine Chandon
If you can get a rsv, might be tough this time of year. French undies, dont waste the money unless you want bragging rights, CIA, if you can get in.

I am debating about a trip up North soon. I want to see Hearst Castle, possible Wine Train and stay on the beach for a couple of nights. But the P-car is coming for the drive as soon as I can get new tires. Any recommendations for good places to stay under 150 a night.

You guys are the best!
I'm going to pass a link to this thread to her and let her see the great suggestions for herself. If you have more ideas feel free.

well in the car you want to consider over night parking security in SFO, to some degree the valley also, they will break in for any reason these days and that will really screw up your nice trip
@ a 150$ max, you have lots of places to choose from, you can get great dealios on rooms in adavance,,, SFO hotles are cheep for hi value places, do consider the hyat regency down town, close to all the action, depends what your looking for but SFO just isnt that big, valley, well if you golf, deffiently Silverado country club, if you dont , B&B, my friends house next the her famillies winery all antique furnished is cheep, Nicolini winery,,, great set up off the beat and path,,,, Calistoga is a day trip only, kinda a beat up littel towen actually, you could go up the coast a bit too, but if you wanna do the tours etc, a place locally will be better, its along da and you get sleppy if your testing grape jiuce, stay local, we were in sanoma for dinner last night a nice town and the bigger of the wine towns, it shut down at about 2000 hrs, so SFO for any kind of action or night life you might be interested in, its all day stuff in the valleys
