I thought it was very good. Clearly an obvious thing to anyone with intelligence but if you don't have that and eat at Mc D's every day then you get what you paid for.

There is a lady who did the same thing- Nothing but McDonald's for a month. Three meals a day. AND LOST WEIGHT!

It's what you put in your mouth. Not where your sitting while stuffing your face.

The movie is entertaining and somewhat informative, but the snapshot of showing how many americans are overweight is eye opening...

Another entertaining (but cheap) stunt.

Sort of a bit like the time Michael Moore went into a local BMW dealership and banged on to the sales guy about their involvement with the Third Reich.

Try again. I saw the skit where he went to BMW's US headquarters with a holocaust survivor who was a forced laborer for BMW's german war plants to talk to a representative about why they were resisting efforts to compensate these people.

You right wingers sure love to twist the facts when they don't gist with your 'corporate entities should be able to do anything they want' mantra.

Have you already seen this documentary or are you just making assumptions about its misguided nature?

I think its just pointing out what bad options are being provided by fast food outlets. I think its a given that there are many irresponsible people in society being facilitated by these options.

For example, just cause a few fat asses want 40 oz of coke and enough frys to provide more carbs than a healthy human needs per day should mickey d's make that a standard option for an additional 40 cents for each person that passes through their restaraunt?

Well Wayne, if you buy a gallon of mayo it is understood that it is to be consumed over a period of time. They are not selling it as a portion.

Gentlemen,

The consumption of McD's for 30 days is only for shock value-- his liver enzyme reading goes off the chart, weight gain is noticeable. More interesting is the piece from his vegan girlfriend about how Mr. Happy doesn't work so well anymore, he's constantly tired.

The real value of the film for me was the combination of his experiment with data about the amount of obesity in the United States, and the proliferation of fast food restaurants. Taken together, the film made me realize that portion control and control of the insulin response are two things that are, if you believe the data, lost on a sizable (pun intended) piece of the US population.

For all the ruckus (see my thread on pharma costs) about the escalating cost of health care, people seem to ignore the comorbidities that come from overweight- and these are a major cause of high health care costs.

I really thought it was great that he didn't turn the movie into an anti-corporate attack, even though that would have made many of the folks on this board happy no doubt. Instead, it was more about raising awareness of the potentially harmful effects of fast food, and allowing people to make their own choices about what to eat. Which, if there's every going to be a reduction in obesity in this country, is what's going to drive it, NOT plaintiff's lawyers, NOT government regulation.

Also I thought Spurlock tastefully ignored more shocker issues, like the hackneyed "rain forest deforestation," "meat is murder/animal cruelty" or the time-honored "restaurant cleanliness" cliches. This helped bring the tone of the film into the mainstream where a guy like me could ENJOY it rather than dismiss it as a polemic like those that spew from that execrable lardbutt known as Michael Moore.

Come on people, really. No way, so if I eat a supersize portion of food with every meal, intake 5000 calories a day and sit on my butt I will experience a dramatic weight gain? I sure am glad that Mr. Moore did this movie to save all those who did not know any better. As an aside, I think that Mr. Moore's regular audience for his movies probably already knew this anyway, too bad he will miss his target audience on this one.

So let me get this straight, because McDonalds or any other food business for that matter, offers portions that are larger than what is recommended then they are to blame for obseity. BULLSPIT. If that is what this country is coming to then we are in big trouble. People blame lawyers and businesses for all our country's problems but I think this movie is a perfect example of what really is wrong, INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILTY.

Mr. Moore would like to remove individual responsibility and have the government decide how much you should eat OR NOT EAT FOR GODS SAKE. Uh, thanks but no thanks! When people start stepping up and taking responsibility for their own problems maybe we can do something about all our problems, until then, LAWSUITS, LAWSUITS, LAWSUITS, MICHAEL MOORE non-objective documentarties and the like are our future.

PS. I was considering suing Wayne, his company sold me several parts for my car that allowed me to exceed the safe speed limit. I knew that these parts would make me go faster but without him selling them I ... oh, nevermind.

Bottom line, NEWSFLASH, if you intake too much fat, too many carbs, too many calories you will get obese. Thank you to Mr. Moore for reassuring us of these facts.

Oh yeah, that's the one. Looks like I wasn't paying proper attention to the TV again, my bad.

Still think taking a holocaust survivor to go 1 on 1 with a car salesman in the wrong country 2 generations and 62 years after the fact is somewhat of an insult to all concerned.

But ratings are king my friend. I'm off for a dose of freedom fries and mayo.
