Need cash due to wife's cancer, selling stuff on Ebay
I realize this thread wont get much attention in this catagory, but I follow rules. Please email to people you think might be interested or pass along. Thanks so much! Ends June 18, 2004
We are auctioning this beautiful white wedding gown to raise money due to my wife's terminal Lymphoma. Size 8 with long sleeves and 6 ft train. She wore it only once, of course, not counting trying it on. LOL. Please excuse me as I am the husband/computer guy and know little about clothing or wedding dresses. Please ask questions as I wouldn't know what to include in the description. Originally $1400. Has little buttonsor something to pin the train up during the reception (as in 6th picture) We decided to sell this after seeing the guy on ebay recently sell his wife's dress(which he modeled) and getting $2000-$3000 for it. We figured we can get something for our dress. I don't want to model the dress personally, but will if it gets higher bids, haha. Email if you are interested and I will email the pics, but bid first! Hoping to appeal to your emotions and sympathy ![]() She is an Registered Nurse and Paramedic and worked at a local hospital in a small town which has made this ordeal much more difficult than it needed for one of it's life long residents. The reason I am telling this is to help keep others from going through what we have. While on her Family Medical Leave, her life insurance policy was cancelled due to the fine print, which reads she had to work a minimum of 30 hours a week to be eligible. Whats the point of having these benefits, you ask? I don't know. Accidental death, I suppose. After a missed diagnosis, she opted to go to a cancer center and after diagnosis enrolled in a clinical trial the treatment center 3 hours away. Sounds good as it saved us alot of money in the short run, but when it failed to kick the cancer, the treating center refused to release any medical records of her having cancer because of strict clinical trial parameters and forms she signed when enrolling resulting in her long term disabilitybeing denied at her place of employment which usually kick in after the FML is used up. Of course her medical insurance was cancelled after her FML ran out because of the minimum 30 hours a week crap. So we can't even afford to have her re-tested to determine the diagnosis to qualify for the long term disability. I'm not trying to turn this auction into a protest or rant, but wouldn't feel right if I didnt warn people to read the fine print on their benefits package and be more prepared, even when you think you have your bases covered. It's just very unfortuate. We also will be selling 2 more informal dresses and some Triumph auto parts, so look for my other auctions soon. Please email with any questions and picture requests and I will consult the expert and get back to you. Thanks you for any and all bids, Scott

I'm sorry to hear that Scott and thanks for the reminder.
After working to help others pull through bad times and for so many years it's so sad that a policy has denied the same for her. Medical care, food, and transportation are some of the things that define quality-of-life in a first-world country and seems to be lacking. There are people who've beaten it through economical alternative medicines and the body/mind is the best medicine. I hope she'll qualifiy for medicaid and the two of you can have quality time together without bankrutpcy etc.. Best wishes to the both of you.

Scott? Have you & Julie contacted Julie's Union reps? My daughter is an R.N. Her union is pretty powerful when it comes to opening doors, gaining benefits, etc...that's my understanding, at least...I could, as often is the case, be wrong.

I'm sorry to hear of your wives illnesses. It's not an easy thing to watch someone you love suffer. Ultimately we are all powerless to effect the outcome. The only thing we can do is standby and give our support and love to our loved ones. My best wishes go out to the both of you.

Scott , sorry to hear about your wife. I lost my wife 2 yrs ago after a yr and a 1/2 fight with cancer. So I know exactly what you are going through. Its tough , I wouldnt wish it on my worst enemy. As far as medical costs, they suck! I'm still paying for things that I thought should have been covered..
Hang tough !! You gotta be strong for her and your family. I dont now how I did it, but I did. I'll keep you guys in my prayers. I'd be happy to give you any advice I could. Hugh , the same goes to you and you wife. Vinny
