race announcers
I have to say I missed the usual Speed F1 crew (Varsha, Matchett and Hobbs) this past Sunday. DeBruhl's reappearance at the Canadian GP (since the regular crew were at Le Mans) made me realize how glad I was Varsha replaced him this year.
Was I the only one? |

I agree. Rick DeBruhl was awful in that spot for the couple years he was there. I was glad to have Bob Varsha back again this year. I guess if I was an announcer and had the choice, I would have chosen LeMans over the Canadian GP also.

who was the third guy on the telecast? Sounded American, and while his tone/inflection were non-existant, it actually sounded like he might know what he was talking about.

I think Matchet's insight is amzing. It has to be given his experience, but getting his point of view is really interesting. Hobbs has got epxerience but it is from a different era, even if it includes LeMans. Steve's commentary makes me feel like I'm getting the "behind the scenes" scoop.

I'll trade you 3 Leigh "horse race announcer" Diffeys (American LeMans),
for just 1 Rick DeBruhl.

I believe that race is irrelevant and shouldn't be announced at all . . .

![]() Diffey is another story. But who the ***** was the girl in the Le Mans pits? (Let me find my previous post on another thread.) Here it is: "All I know was the woman interviewer for Speed was probably the most inane and bothersome to the drivers person I have ever heard on TV outside of the Jerry Springer type of crap on in the doctor's waiting room. I'm just gonna stop watching Speed altogether. You could see the anoyance on Kristiansen's face as he endured question after question from this cow. Especially, since he was trying to get into position and game face for his stint. She went from driver to driver with the same assinine questions. I'd have slapped the b!tch." LOL Zeke!
But DeFool has got to go. He is annoying, a know-it-all that doesn't know anything, has terrible timing, and just plain can't shut up. Also for some reason, I picture him announcing the race sitting on a child-size stool wearing a propeller beanie. Just ruins my race viewing experience. ![]() |

townsend bell is a F3000 driver, the only american for a while and he does pretty good. He has done some F1 testing and could end up in F1 some day. But chances are slim. He does a nice job of adding driver perspective like Hobbs does.
