How do you not get angry? (Venting)
I walked around the car when I got home and I have a scratch in the passenger door. It's not a light scratch but about 3" long and deep. Why don't people take responsibility for their stupidity? If you hit someone's car, at least leave a note apologizing and offer to fix it. People need to take responsibility for their own actions. I think I learned this in kindergarten if not before. Sorry for the rant but now every day I have to look at a white scratch in my red paint until I can have it touched up or repainted at my expense. Too many damn things aren't fair.

That is really too bad. I agree, too many people don't seem to give a hoot. I'd guess that 9.5 of 10 people are respectful of others' possessions, but when you meet that 0.5 . . .
Anyway to make something good of this? Like get the stone chips resprayed, fit fiberglass bumpers, or the targa bar made body-color, at the same time, something like that? |
I got a ding in the door of my Aston Martin 30 minutes after I drove it out of the body shop with a fresh paint job. Happened at the supermarket, I was buying a bottle of champagne for her (to drink, not to chrisen her). Didn't I read that on this board once that if there's another pcar in the parking lot, you should park next to it to protect one side of your car, and one side of the other pcar.. good advice. BTW, sorry about the defiling (read sodomizing and rape) of your beloved.
Addendum; saw your signature, which makes it doubly bad, another 84 Targa, I told mine about it, and she freaked. Hope she sleeps OK tonight.:) |
Dings and dents are the horrible part of car ownership in a metropolis. I've remarked to people several times that either the parking spaces have become more narrow or the cars have grown wider. I don't know; is it the former or the latter?
|
Both, I know of a company that has a business where a strip mall will get their conditional use permit for parking with so may compact and regular parking spots and then once the CUP is approved, six months later they will repaint the parking lot and restripe it with more compact spots than were initially approved by the city.
|
Combination of both - Americans have a tendency towards big stupid SUVs as of late. Building codes DO require a certain percentage of "standard" stalls but it varies by municipality and zoning designation. In general though, I beleive there is a trend towards maximizing the OVERALL parking capacity of the site. Also, what is submitted to the Building Department as a parking plan and what often gets striped on site are two very different animals.

Yeah, I had a feeling more "compact" parking spaces have been added to most places I frequent. I mean, since when does my Mountaineer take up one-and-a-half parking spaces?
