Pelican fired for spending too much time on forums

Has this ever happened? I know I would fire myself for the amount of daytime/worktime I find myself here posting silly stuff like this.

kach22i 06-17-2004 09:42 AM

In the words of the Donald; you're fired.:D

911ctS 06-17-2004 10:03 AM

Ah yes, I've often pondered the same thing. I can vouch that a solid 1/3 of my day is used up browsing this forum. After awhile you become pretty good a doing it very covert op style. Im constantly hovering my mouse pointer over the minimize button at the top.

Shuie 06-17-2004 10:10 AM

I probably will be fired for spending too much time on Pelican.

This is a great day for the BBS. There is some serious teasing and back and forth jousting on the 911 board on at least 2 different threads. This is the kind of stuff that is the next thing to live chat. You have to be there to keep up. Very addicting.

Tell me where U work Zeke and I'll drop the dime errr quarter on you?

Hey Zekie what ever happened to the PI you wanted to hire to investigate me......???????

My philosophy is that if you are getting your work done, then why worry. If you are here and not getting your work done, then you are bound to have problems and Alt-Tab works pretty good.

VINMAN 06-17-2004 11:44 AM

If I wasnt the boss , I'd fire myself for the time I spend on here!
:D :D

Hmmm...If you got extra time on your hands...I'm sure the Overseer can find some more things to occupy your time with....

GrindingGears 06-17-2004 12:02 PM

alt + tab is wonderful.

juanbenae 06-17-2004 12:16 PM

no but any day i expect to tune into pelican and get the "WEB ACCESS DENIED, SEE CITY INTERNET POLICY".n you already get that for a local radio station and ebay. you can back door ebay autos if you're sly, but a bid or a question to seller, see above in capitals.

that my partners will be one sad day,,, for me anyway.

Please enlighten the young - what does the Overseer have in mind?

You havn't been a slave long enough.....The masa will always have other work for you to do if your done with what he assigned...in other words your paid to work 8 hours a day and he will see to it that you do....

I have had a couple employees over the years who did a little bit TOO much non-work surfing. Some of it was VERY non-work oriented if you catch my drift.

In each case a quick email from "Administrator" with an excerpt of server logs did the trick without any formalities.

RANDY P 06-17-2004 09:48 PM

alt -tab, sit in farthest corner of the office, leave another website up for biz just in case.

Hell, won E BAY bidding wars, done major shopping and purchases, surfed everywhere. AND hang out on Pelican while dealing with the public. Of course strictly against company internet use policy and fully during business hours. The only way to break the rules.

For some reason that gay "net - nanny" internet network monitoring thing (in realspeak it's "websense") doesn't ban Pelican anymore. Maybe I did so much surfing and going past the nanny they mistook it for a bank site?

Work is tolerable nowadays.
