Ford Maverick SUV ???

I was in Baltimore over the weekend and a thuckload of SUVs passed me. Thye looked just like Escapes, but were called Mavericks. I assume this is some foriegn market varient. Anyone know where they are sold? Why would they move via truck, or is this the "rubber railroad" from one location to another?

It is kind of funny how the names change from country to country as not to offend anyone. I wonder when they thought up the name Escape if it had something to do with the Firestone tires and the rollovers.

Ford doesn't dare send a SUV with the name 'Escape' to China.

The same way Chevy could not send a car named Nova to Latin America.

Yep the Escape is a Maverick in the UK. Very few of them on the road, generally not well received by the press.

Apparently it is built in Japan.
