A quote:
"* Politics is not a bad profession. If you succeed there are many
rewards; if you disgrace yourself you can always write a book." -Ronald Reagan |
Hmmm, not one leftie response defending a recently released book...
|
I like it!

What former Prez (who made it through) hasn't written a book or had a book written about their lfe by a "trusted biographer"?
|
I think the point is even if you were an utter failure, you can still make millions writing a book. I don't think the implication was that all politicians who write books were weak.
I think its cool that even if you were a failure, you get govt. issue security for the rest of your life. So you could go around roughing up hippies with your secret service goons backing you. :p |
Thanks for responding, guys..I'd almost lost faith...:)

Some have suggested I go into politics but I'm not going to do that for at least a couple of reasons. One is that it's a game I don't understand. it's not about real statesmanship and stewardship. It's a weird and crazy game of perceptions. A glamour contest if you will, where beauty needs not be more than skin deep. I was always the kid that gets caught because I was holding the incriminating item when the teacher looks over. Nevermind that several other kids did the real damage and Tommy started it all. Tommy's the politician. Superman is a stepping block who never sees it coming. It's true. I'm considered naive by some, and others won't even invite me to the meetings because I say the obvious stuff that others are afraid to say.
The other reason is the cost. Not financial. Sure, you get to write a book and make some money, but you pay for it with your self-esteem. Mine's not for sale. |
No doubt Nixon blew it.
