Richard,
The RK "Custom" (FLHRCI) has been a huge seller in our store this year. Our allocation was not nearly large enough to meet the demand.
I have just one '04 left. The '05's start rolling into the showroom in August. I don't think there will be many changes to the '05 Customs.

You will like the Rt, I have an 04 GS, great bike. I am about 6-4, and like how big it is. I think next years RT's are suppossed to have the new 1200 motor that is in the 05 GS. I rode a R1200GS, and didn't like it nearly as much.

I'm with you Bill... the new GS is too plasticy for me. Doesn't have the brute good looks of the 04 and earlier GS's. Hey, see my 'Mad Max' pic in my sig. Taken on the edge of a mountain north of Rifle, CO!

Doug - You must work at a HD dealer? Maybe I can bug you in another month or so to see if you have any info on the 05 RK Custom. My local dealer is sold out of the 04s and is already taking deposits on the 05s. Life is good if you're a HD dealer these days!

Thats a great picture Richard! I am going on ride called "The Dirty Dozen" (12 passes in 2 days) this August. It should be a good time. I have ridden some in Rcoky Mountain National Park, and in various places in Wyoming of road.

I agree about all the plastic. I did not like how the instrument panel and the windshield all seemed to move around too much. Plus I think it was smaller than the previous GS's. I get blown around by the wind enough, can't imagine what it would be like on a bike that weighs 60 pounds less.

Well, Bimmerbike fans, Doug's RT has landed!

I've been riding around all day, and have a grin on my face like a *****-eating dog!! This is one fine m/c. Handling, brakes, power (enough for me)....this bike has it all. It has fins on the cylinders, too. :D

damn, that was quick. Beautiful bike. I have to admit that I have visited the BMW motorcycle site a few times in the last few months. But then I look around at LA traffic and decide discretion is the better part of valor...

I made the mistake (good fortune?) of venturing over to the dark side of the Pelican board, the R1100S forum. I'd always wanted a BMW twin after riding friend's twins and working in a shop almost 20 years ago that worked on them. I figured I needed something to play with while the 930 is down for an engine rebuild, so I bought a '99 R1100S. It's certainly different than the jap bikes I've ridden over the years. The handling is great, but it was a little buzzy and the idle was erratic. I put a Two Brothers cat bypass on it and adjusted the low and high speed vacuum. Adjusting the vacuum balance helped some but the cat bypass seemed to help the buzziness and the idle. Since I left the stock silencers on, it's not really any louder. I do like the RT though, if I decide to do more distance riding, I might move up to an RT and hand the S over to the wife.
