Who else has converted a car to Electric
Fuzzbeaner is in the process of converting his 928 to electric (OT: Looking for big deep cycle/golf cart batteries for electric 924).
Just curious if anyone else has done this. I've thought it would be a fun project but not sure I want to spend the $$$ on buying a roller and all the required parts. Pat |

Here's a guy who converted his 911 to electric:
http://www.oz.net/~daveb/porsche.htm "WARNING! If you are a dedicated Porsche fan, the story that unfolds in the following pages may be deeply disturbing. In fact, in Stuttgart, I would probably be up on charges of desecration. But this is America where any nut can pursue his warped dream with carefree abandon. " ![]()

I love the fact that Dr. Porsche invented electric hub drive, used it in his early turn of the century racers (4WD and FWD Hybrids) and the Tiger II tank (search for electric transmission).
I think a 911 would be perfect for electric FWD on take off (hybrid-keep the rear engine). If I ever won the lottery, I would have time to tinker in that kind of direction. Oh lottery dreams are running high in the multi-state Michigan area lottery now. Here is a good off-the-wall site for 3-wheeled cars, another fantasy of mine. http://www.3wheelers.com/enter.html

Hehe, 3 wheelers are a Mr. Bean reminder for me. Ohhh the memories.
And yes, if you win the lottery and make a hybrid 911, I will be so amazed that I will melt into a puddle of shock. Do you have details about that tanks thing though? I've heard and the car thing, but I never knew he had anything to do with a tank! Or an electric tank at all for that matter - I should write to the army! ![]() -Jeff
