International payment methods Q.
I am buying a set of Fuchs from a Canadian seller. He does not use paypal, & is suggesting I pay by bank-to-bank wire transfer to his US account. Does this method have any protection at all for the buyer? I assume it’s possible to verify the account name with the bank by the # he gives me (to verify its not a case of ID fraud- email hijacking etc.)
Would I be better off using a cashiers check? I know a USPS postal order doesn’t work as the max amount is $700 for international transactions. I have bought from the seller once before with no problems, so I guess my main concern would be 1/ ID theft. 2/ careless misrepresentation of rims thanks |

Could you use multiple USPS MOs? What about Western Union? Direct wire transfer is the safest for him, but leaves you no protection for yourself.

I would think Western Union is probably worse than a bank-to-bank transfer. Ebays guidelines (this is not an ebay sale FYI) basically say to avoid that method at all costs as its virtually untraceable.
His bank however would not confirm that the account # he gave matches his name (privacy laws) ![]() |

in this case, I'd use an escrow account...eBay has a list of these...use them so you don't get screwed...
just my 2-cents... or tell him to sign up for paypal...it's free and should take 15 minutes...
