Goose.

SRISER 07-15-2004 09:48 AM

So, Duvall Cafe at 1000? We will be a little late...coming from Sea-Tac. more like 1030 or so for us. I mean, the car is quick, but come on.

rdane 07-15-2004 10:16 AM

Where is Ian?

I think he said he would be away until Friday evening.

Edit: From first post:

"Unfortunately, i'm leaving this friday for some quality Combat Survival Training time in the woods, and will be unavailable until the following friday (the day before i fly in town)."

SRISER 07-15-2004 01:48 PM

Change. Rear quarter window needs a new gasket as I ruined the original as I am trying to get it out to replace the trim between the window and the body. Window will probably fall out if I drive it...bummer.

Sounds like a job for duct tape!

rdane 07-15-2004 03:21 PM

Wait till you find out the pricd of that seal...now that is a bummer :(

SRISER 07-15-2004 05:39 PM

No waiting required...I already know...geeze! So, a "small" preventative job to pull out a piece of trim that has a bit of rust on it has turned into a $200 job.

Now on Monday, I have to get it all back together...that will be fun.

rdane 07-15-2004 07:05 PM

Did the same on my back windows. Turned into a $500 job and wasn't pleased at how my paint was mangled.

So are you duct taping it in and showing for breakfast?

SRISER 07-15-2004 09:12 PM

No, it is already out. Got the trim piece in including the spacers and that weird putty tape crap. Waiting for the gasket now...won't have it until Monday at the earliest.

I guess I will have to defer (as much as I would REALLY) like to make it until another time.

BTW...I ALMOST passed emissions with no cat and a hot Steve Wong chip. Passed all aspects except idle...cut off is 220 I had a 274. No biggie..just slap the cat back on and get it done again.

Next Monday and Tuesday I will be over in Silverdale...anybody over there? Dan?

djmcmath 07-15-2004 09:38 PM

Silverdale? Yup, I'm in Silverdale. Monday, you say? I'm working till prolly 5ish, but good after that. Dinner at Whiskey Creek, drive to Port Ludlow, maybe? Is there anyone else over here?

Now, I know you have a Landrover you can drive to Duvall. The food tastes the same if you drive a p-car or Landrover and your company will be just as welcome. :)

SRISER 07-16-2004 09:50 AM

Monday the 26th and Tuesday the 27th...PM me your phone number. We'll hookem for chow...

...Ah yes Scott...that is true...let me speak with the Admiral...

IanW505 07-16-2004 12:38 PM

Wow this thread got big! Yeah, so i'm back and in one piece still, with some good stories to tell. Sounds like the plan is Sunday at 10 at the Duvall Bakery. Works for me.

Dane, if you can PM me directions to your house or wherever you want us to meet you from the city, that would be best. Then my brother and i can go up and back with you.

Sounds like alot of people are coming! see you all soon,

-Ian

ronin 07-16-2004 06:56 PM

Ian, survival training must have been hard. that's Alki Bakery and Duvall Cafe. repeat after me, Alki Baaakeryy and Duvall Cafeee. got it?

airforce boys

:D

IanW505 07-16-2004 07:33 PM

man, i'm barely back a few hours and already you're givin me crap!! you don't miss a beat, do you? :) i may not be thinking straight, but i can still drive like the wind :D

rdane 07-16-2004 09:11 PM

Hummmmmm...

Wind hits everything, typically has real ****ty throttle control and seldom threshold brakes.

Was it a head injury he asks? Ronin I suspect we can have him checked out locally at McCord if it continues. ;)

nize 07-17-2004 08:05 AM

damn why didn't anyone tell me about this? i accidentally found it while searching for 'chip' today. is it okay for me to come? i'm new to the list.

and the duvall cafe info/map is here;
http://edb.seattletimes.nwsource.com/ae/scr/edb_vd.cfm?ven=3635&s=st

do we have to make a reservation or something so they'll know we're coming?

sure, head injury cases are usually pretty placid. I can just stuff him in the back under the hatch. he'll be o.k. not sure whether McCord has the facilities though... hmmm, I smell road trip!

nize. we never make reservations, we just show up and say deal with it! however, I'm not so sure I'm comfortable with someone trying to muscle in on my position as token wasserpumper. I get very territorial! :D

Good thing I'm drinking water, 'coz I nearly spit it all over the desk on that one. lol!

If anyone else is in the Silverdale area on Monday afternoon/evening, I'm looking at Whiskey Creek Steakhouse (and bar) at say ... 6ish?

Dan

Scooter 07-17-2004 09:55 AM

Welcome aboard nize! Of course you are welcome...you drive a p-car don't you? Look forward to seeing your car; there are not many on this board that can say they are the original owner of a their car and 100% stock at that, I bet she is a beauty.

The restaurant does not take reservations, unfortunately.

ronin 07-17-2004 09:56 AM

Dan, methink's I'm going to be doing my "research" soon too. can't do it on Monday, but am tentatively thinking about later in the week ;)

ronin 07-17-2004 09:58 AM

oh *****! so now everyone is on the board at the same time. can't make it on a run on Saturday morning but have all the time in the world to sit around posting on Pelican. I see how it is. well that's just fine! :D

are you worried i'll be the only guy there who can catch up to you at speeds? :)

ronin 07-17-2004 10:01 AM

alright. so the truth is out. definitely! I mean have you seen how slow those airheads can be!?!?

Yeah, I guess I could brake to get down to 944 speed...:D

rdane 07-17-2004 01:20 PM

It isn't how fast you can go... it is how fast you can get to, how fast you can go :)

I need some miles on my engine. Silverdale is possible in the evening mid week.

don't you know that pushing your car off a cliff isn't good for it!

SRISER 07-17-2004 06:04 PM

I will be in Silverdale only Monday and Tuesday...oh well...

djmcmath 07-17-2004 09:24 PM

Gentlemen, it is with greatest regret I inform you that I'll be rather busy for the next couple of weeks -- my tranny died yesterday afternoon, and I've decided to drop the engine and do the rebuild myself. No, I've never done it before, yes, I have the Bentley-book, yes, I'm scared witless, and no, I really don't have any idea what I'm doing. (scared grin)

Sam -- I'm still on for Monday dinner, along with anyone who can make it. Tuesday's already claimed, but not until 7:45ish, so if that counts as "mid-week" for those who can't make Monday, we could go Tuesday instead. I can recommend a decent route for some entertaining driving, though I regret that I will be unable to participate, for obvious reasons.

Ralf -- Anytime you'd like to come take legal roadway measurements, let me know. Wednesday and Friday are still unclaimed for this week, as well as Tuesday before 7:45 (unless it gets claimed for a general Pelican group get together). PM, call, or e-mail.

After Action Report? Anybody? Is there anyone still alive after having fun in Seattle all day? Come on, throw me a bone -- I have to live vicariously through ya'll! :) Pics? Stories? Route? Something?

i've got some photos, will post them tomorrow.

on part of the return drive a biker on a harley thought he could prevent us from passing...

IanW505 07-18-2004 10:54 PM

Can't provide the route, cause i had no idea where we were. Pictures, however, i can do.

Started out at the Duvall Cafe with Mark Wilson and wife, Scooter and wife, Drago and friend, Nize, Ronin, and myself and my brother and his girlfriend.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1090219687.jpg
Mark and Scott had to bail, so that left a 911 and two H20-pumpers and me in our measly Saab.

djmcmath 07-19-2004 04:10 PM

Boy, those 944's sure look funny. How do you fit an engine in the back of those, anyway? Can you see the valve covers through the rear glass?

Looks like ya'll had a blast. I'll make the next one, honest.

SRiser -- next week? Good heavens; a basic lesson in communicating dates must be in order for our young air force punk. :) So we're looking at July 26 or 27 over here, then? Who's in?

Dan

nize 07-19-2004 04:18 PM

ian (and co.), email me! nize2 at msn.com
