I think its Allen & Co. a big investment house with lots of very, very rich people who get together and talk about how rich they are. Michael Eisner goes, and he's at the low end the rich crowd there.

Howard Allen & Company. Hugh is exactly right.

An invite only conference of the business leaders of this country.

I didn't get an invite, haha. I AM there every year, tho. I fly them in.

I am flying in one of them after he releases his comapny's earnings this afternoon. Walking down the streets of Sun Valley is a trip during this conference. Sat next to 'the Oracle of Omaha' at the bar last year waiting for a table for dinner. Usually run into multiple moguls in the restaurants.

Is really a trip.

Yeah, I've got a message, and deliver it eye-to-eye, without blinking: Thanks.

Am I out of the doghouse for the eye candy photos yet?

Yeah, like most chycks, she blames *herself* for how she looks in photos (can you believe it?) and from the dawn of time has not been satisfied with a picture taken of her.

I tell her she needs more practice on the business end of a camera lens, and less... uh ... restrictive attire might help.

So now I'm the one in trouble somehow.

JP;

Message delivered. Sat next to the CEO of AT&T at a local eatery tonight. He couldn't get his cell phone to work. I let him use my SprintPCS phone (with 5 bars). He laughed his a$$ off, all of his minions at the table were also zero bars, and shooting me dirty looks. My bet is that they will be at every planning comission meeting from now on too.

Last year the CEO of Sprint managed to get a cell tower past all the tree huggers here in Sun Valley when HIS phone wouldn't work.

It is a diferent world up here. Midnight, not a cloud in the sky, stars from horizon to horizon and it is 77 degrees at 5600 foot elevation.

Sing, Sounds gorgeous up there. Don't know why, but I always thought that it was Paul Allen who hosted that gathering, are they related?

I would be dying to know what most of them think of Bush, Iraq, etc.... Are most (all) of them conservatives? I'm not sure that I know what the term means anymore myself.

Lot of success up there this week, soak it up Buddy! Have fun, but it sounds like you usually do.

Two words: Stock Tips...

If you overhear something, that's not insider trading if I am correct.

You know, I am staying in a 40 unit condo complex on the Wood River. The front desk guy told me this morning that nothing but flight crews were in the hotel here. I have run across guys from every single aspect of the business community.

Denis, I think the median political pointer up here is set to oxen.

Whose ox gets gored by who gets elected.

There doesn't seem to be the political talk yet. Thursday night, ExCIA director Tenet gives a talk. The Governator talks Friday noon. The exPrime Minister of Canada Brian Mulroney spoke this morning. That's the extent of the politics.

The buzz seems to be business. My client announced earnings yesterday in Sunnyvale, met the press and stockholders, winced at the stock price falling 4%, got in his G4 and came up here. By 11AM up here the stock price had not only recovered the loss, but gained even more. He was a lot more relaxed this morning.

Eisner has been all over town this morning (ran into him at Starbucks), and Bloomberg keeps sticking a mike in his face everywhere he goes. NO COMMENT is all they are getting out of him. The Harvey Weinstein (also spotted walking early) riff/tiff with Eisner is the grist of the rumor mill.

The place we had a late dinner last night (late in Idaho is 9PM) let us know that the kitchen was closing at 10PM, and we REALLY needed to get our order in by 9:45. We did, as did everyone else in the place (Whiskey Jaques). At 10:30, a 'whale' walked in and bought the kitchen staff for another hour so he and his guests could eat. It was a riot. Some poor PA is going to wince when they have to integrate that expenditure into an expense report on next Monday, haha.

The flight crews are going on a river raft this afternoon, and a BBQ on the beach in front of the condos tonight.

There are over 150 private jets here. Every major corp is represented. Someone at the bar last night (also waiting for a dinner table) soberly made the statement that this place would make a really good terrorist target this week. No one said a word for a few moments, then someone at the end of the bar yelled...

"Next round is on ME!" It was a fun night.

Poor Rupert Murdoch.

Got caught phoning in news to his NY Post news desk. Guess Kerry really didn't pick Gephart. Was why there was no byline on that now famous cover.

Was shown this morning wringing hands outside the Sun Valley Inn saying "Geez, everybody makes mistakes".

Another beautiful day up here. Leave today for LaLaLand, sounds like there is a 944 get together in L.A.

The talk at late dinner last night was a private jet crash down near Boise. The CEO of a small chip company was flying, and had some sort of a problem after takeoff. Everyone walked away, so no headlines.
