Georgia, I am happy to say, has done away with this silly requirement.

I'd love to see this happen in NJ.
I never have a front plate on my 911. However, they just passed a law that places a very stiff surcharge (up to $200) on minor violations. May not be worth the risk.

Never in California as the front plate is used at the Red light cams,So that they have the plate# and a photo of the driver, $$$$$ for the local citys.

When did Georgia ever require front plates?

as Steve said, never gonna happen. Too much revenue to be lost, almost zero to be gained (cost of making an extra license plate?).

Yep! Especially when plates are made by inmates in prison.

However, I did sign the petition.

Mass has a law.... but once again, I'm a criminal. I don't have the brackets anyhow. Here, if you have a white plate with red letters, you need a plate front and back, but if you have a white plate with green letters (the older style, being grandfathered in) you only need it on the back. I suppose if I spend the 15 bucks for a "year of manufacture" plate, then I would only need it on the back, as my car is registered as an antique. Luckily, myself and friends have gotten away for a couple years running w/o our front plates, which we keep inside the car.

Why not just paint the letters green?

I know it's a lost cause, but I signed it. I've driven my 911 for 6 1/2 years with no front plate, and have had no problems. Even the cop who gave me a speeding ticket didn't say anything.

I keep mine under the seat just in case I have to pop it up on the dash. Better than nothing I guess.

I grew up in Troy, MI and when I moved to chicago I bought a car and only put the rear plate on cause i thought the other one they gave me was just an "extra" the dealer even told me I only needed the rear!

A few weeks later I was parked on the street in downtown and received a $45 ticket. I was PISSED.

What I really love is the select enforcement of the front plate law. For example, they enforce it in all of the parking lots at LAX. Nothing better than coming home from a business trip or vacation to a nice fat ticket on your car.
