I've seen demos at a couple of E3s, and noticed it "on the shelf" at Best Buy a couple of days ago in a retail box with a coupon for the actual game when released.

Looks incredible!

Wow. I remember playing Commander Keen in college, which kinda morphed into Castle Wolfenstein, then Doom. Never looked like this!

my introduction to the 1st person shooter was Wolfenstein

I remember marvelling at how lifelike it was

The next big jumps in quality came with GoldenEye for N64, then Half Life for the PC. I believe that Call of Duty represents another leap forward.

let's see some more screenshots!

I'll need some new hardware - video card at least. And of course I'll be waiting for the Linux binaries before I buy. At least, I hope id continues its tradition of excellent linux support.

lol. I used to play Wolfenstein 3D so fast that I'd get nauseous. Doom was definitely my fave back then. used to play it after everyone else went to bed. turned out the lights and turned up the sound (sound cards were still an "option" back then) and then jump everytime one of those snarling monsters crept up on me. suspension of disbelief was so much easier back in those days. loved Half Life

I just can't seem to get excited about this.

Maybe I'm getting old.

I don't want to put anyone down, I'm sure I'm not seeing the whole thing, but it just looks like running around in a maze and shooting each other. Multiplayer has its appeal, I'm certain. But what else?

I'm waiting for Gran Turismo....

What a riot! The Doom designers now have Hollywood agents - no bull! I know one of the agents. He just renovated his Sherman Oaks home into a million-dollar seller.

It may have a good theme and graphics, but after 30 minutes the "fun" factors of a game are still no bugs, good plot, pacing, and random replayability. The newer games are getting above $50 and it starts to add up, I'll might have to try the Doom series with this one.
Old but goody- I just got Grand Prix Legends(1998) and it just freaking rocks with the update! They still sell it at computer-games-station. Sometime later in life, when I get to the mecca called Neurburgring, grasshopper'll be the track.
