In my experience (and I was involved in marketing beer in the 80s) Pabst has been consistently the worst.

OTOH, any beer that's been in the can too long -- especially out of temperature range -- will start to go 'skunky' and I don't have to describe to you what I mean by that word...

So when you visit friends who 'don't drink beer' but 'just happen to have one in the 'fridge,' don't go for it. It's likely been in there way too long...

Add me to the Heine haters list. Tastes the same to me.

The Heineken in Puerto Rico is awesome. The Heineken I've had in the CONUS has a terrible metal taste to it.

Mackeson triple stout and Guiness stout taste like coffee that has been left out overnight.

I have heard they bottle Pabst directly from the Ohio river.

Milwaukee's Beast has casued me to have visions of being found dead on a toilet.

I've thrown 5 of 6 unopened Abita turbodog bottles in the garbage. I dont normally throw beer out, but this stuff is bad.

CJFusco 07-16-2004 06:06 AM

you know what? I don't like Heineken either. It's not as bad as Natty Ice or Icehouse, but I never understood its reputation as a "good" beer.

My favorites are easily Sam Summer and Magic Hat #9

JavaBrewer 07-16-2004 06:06 AM

Most of the big label domestics. I did choke down more than a few Coors Lite's when the were sponsoring a cycling team. Oh and Sam Adams - can't stand that beer, complete crap.

CJFusco 07-16-2004 06:07 AM

the regular Sam Adams isn't great, but it isn't terrible either.... ALL of their specialty beers are awesome though.

Marketing......

Best Heine I ever had was at an industry+academic conference in Orlando. Sitting in a club watching the other nerds from the conference dance and try to pick up local hotties. I shot more beer out of my nose that night than I actually downed...but it was better that way.

Agreed! I bought a 12 pack as a poor college student, and couldn't finish it!

Also followed closely by Pearl... is either one still around?

What about Lucky Beer, the riddles in the caps is the only reason to buy it.

turbocarrera 07-16-2004 11:44 AM

There's bad beer?

I agree about the Red Dog, but have to throw any "ice" beer in the hangover class.

As far as taste, any one of these.

remember that huge success story, killean's red? snicker, snicker....that stuff was hideous too.

Michelobe Ultra tastes like dish water, if you ever try it, look at the head on it, it will rmind you of washing dishes and then when you taste it, you will still think dish soap.

Of the 440+ beers I ahve rated on www.ratebeer.com, I have rated Becks light as the worst.

widebody911 07-16-2004 01:26 PM

A co-worker gave me a 6-pack of beer he'd made. It sat in my fridge for close to a year, and then I took it out and set it next to the fridge when I needed some room. One summer day, several months later, I came home to the most horrible stench. Seems a couple of the bottles exploded, and there was rotten beer and glass everywhere.

UconnTim97 07-16-2004 01:29 PM

I agree, Reddog does give the worst hangovers.

COLDBASS 07-16-2004 01:38 PM

Ultra, Burgie, Lucky, Red Stripe...

Spent my early teens perfecting my beer drinking on Country Club Malt Liquor, Mickeys, and some long forgotten brew in a gold can that we used to mix with Mug Root Beer in an effort to kill the bad taste...http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/wat6.gif

Oh, I forgot to add the very worse was Billy Beer - Billy Carters venture into large scale business...
