Favorite Kerryisms

To give Kerry equal time...What are your favorite Kerryisms? I'll start:

Quote:

There are all kinds of atrocities, and I would have to say that, yes, yes, I committed the same kind of atrocities as thousands of other soldiers have committed in that I took part in shootings in free fire zones. I conducted harassment and interdiction fire. I used 50 calibre machine guns, which we were granted and ordered to use, which were our only weapon against people. I took part in search and destroy missions, in the burning of villages. All of this is contrary to the laws of warfare, all of this is contrary to the Geneva Conventions and all of this is ordered as a matter of written established policy by the government of the United States from the top down. And I believe that the men who designed these, the men who designed the free fire zone, the men who ordered us, the men who signed off the air raid strike areas, I think these men, by the letter of the law, the same letter of the law that tried Lieutenant Calley, are war criminals.

Here is another:
Quote:

I have been to Paris. I have talked with both delegations at the peace talks, that is to say the Democratic Republic of Vietnam and the Provisional Revolutionary Government and of all eight of Madam Binh's points it has been stated time and time again, and was stated by Senator Vance Hartke when he returned from Paris, and it has been stated by many other officials of this Government, if the United States were to set a date for withdrawal the prisoners of war would be returned.

I think this negates very clearly the argument of the President that we have to maintain a presence in Vietnam, to use as a negotiating block for the return of those prisoners. The setting of a date will accomplish that.

-- John Kerry, testifying before the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, April 22, 1971

and another:

Quote:

We established an American presence in most cases by showing the flag and firing at sampans and villages along the banks. Those were our instructions, but they seemed so out of line that we finally began to go ashore, against our orders, and investigate the villages that were supposed to be our targets. We discovered we were butchering a lot of innocent people, and morale became so low among the officers on those 'swift boats' that we were called back to Saigon for special instructions from Gen. Abrams. He told us we were doing the right thing. He said our efforts would help win the war in the long run. That's when I realized I could never remain silent about the realities of the war in Vietnam.

-- John Kerry in the Washington Star, June 6, 1971

Quote:

When I vote to give the President of the United States the authority to use force, if necessary, to disarm Saddam Hussein, it is because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a threat, and a grave threat, to our security and that of our allies in the Persian Gulf region.

These quotes are several of the reasons Kerry will get my vote.

Mulholland 07-17-2004 10:32 PM

Assured that the ABC News camera accompanying the entourage had not captured Kerry's fall, the Senator glared at your sloping Noter and assured, "I don't fall down. That son of a ***** ran into me."

Way to take responsibility sKerry...Not only take credit but blame somebody who is innocent and lie to do it...But I am sure things will change as President.

Mulholland 07-17-2004 10:37 PM

"I don't think any United States senator is going to abandon our troops and recklessly leave Iraq to whatever follows as a result of simply cutting and running. That's irresponsible."

"Cutting and running?"...lol...You mean like you did in Vietnam, to the POWs/MIAs, and in Iraq (I know, I know, he has taken 3 sides of this issue)?

cool, you support a self-admitted war criminal

Just playing devils advocate here but what does one call the leader of a country that invades another without a formal declaration of war?

Now before some of you get your collective pants in a twist, familiarize yourself with twentieth century history of Asia in the 20s and 30s. And also Europe from 1910 to 1942. How many countries have been invaded with "we are here to liberate you" as a pretext?

Personally, I do not know how to define "war criminal". It depends on the point of view and which side is doing the defining. If one admits to acts which, in retrospect, he or she now find unacceptable, is that not an indication of regret? Of moral judgement? Of a realization that he or she made mistakes and is willing to admit to them? If Germany had won, would Goering or Speer or the others been "war criminals"? Had the US lost, would Truman, Eisenhower and McArthur been "war criminals"?

I don't know. All I do know is that labels are easy to pin on individuals when one does not know what was in their minds at the time. For instance: Do I believe that GWB is stupid? Of course not. No one can be truly stupid and get to be president. The logic? The powers that support him would not put a stupid person in a position to totally discredit them. Do I believe that Kerry is a chronic flip-flopper? No. So many bills have addendums that negate the original intent. Therefore, while I may agree to save the whales, if the bill ultimately adds the sale of New Jersey to Japan as a place to park all the new Toyotas and Nissans, I am not now saying I do not care about the whales. But, to the "loyal opposition", I hate whales and am a flip-flopper.

Personally, I see no difference in WMD references by either side since both sides were supplied with the same faulty information. Why wouldn't they say the same thing? It's a non-issue and both sides should let that fact sink in. There are more important issues than..."Oh Yeah?" "Sez you" "So's your mother" rhetoric. Frankly, most such arguments are puerile and should be beneath individuals aspiring to high office, as they should be among the rest of us.

I will repeat this again: We accept behaviour from elected officials we would find unacceptable in a four year old.

And the really sad part is their followers are so willing to parrot this drivel as if it were delivered from the Almighty.

Joseph Goebbels once said: "Tell the same lie often enough, and with enough conviction, and it ultimately becomes the truth". (not a precise quote, but close)

Right-wingers like you always bring up Bill Clinton...Can't you get over it?...I mean Milosevich was killing Islamic terrorists indiscrimantely and so Clinton, on Monica-testimony-eve, had to bomb Serbian civilians in Serbia to liberate the oppressed Al Qaeda associates 100s of miles away.

Dude, apples and oranges (did I mention the LIE about mass-graves in Kosovo was totally discredited and the media has said nothing, no investigation, and a quagmire?)...But we are getting out, as scheduled, in 1998.

svonkampen 07-18-2004 08:07 PM

Hey Mulholland......

Do you even drive a Porsche? If so, I bet it's a Cayenne...

ubiquity0 07-18-2004 08:23 PM

He drives a Subarorsche. A Porsche-powered Subaru.

fintstone 07-18-2004 09:58 PM

Kerry said regarding Edwards in the primary: “This is no time for on the job training,”

araine901 07-18-2004 10:06 PM

What is Kerrys exit plan for getting troops out of Kosovo?

Stick around kid, keep an open mind, and I will teach you the truth about what scumbag liars the democrat party are.

That said...I drive a WRX, heavily modified...0-60 ~4.4 seconds -- reworked suspension -- Brembo all four corners -- carbon fiber accents (not ricer looking) and full neon ground effects with chrome spinners and a high performance fart can (just to scrach the surface).

okay, I lied, no neon ground effects, spinners and fart can

I am sure you aren't one of those elitist type Porsche owners. You see, the Subaru culture that I am from actually waves to each other when we pass and complement performance cars irrespective of the make and model.

svonkampen 07-18-2004 11:01 PM

So do we.......It's called the P-Car wave

In all seriousness, you'd like it here - we've got lotsa WRX's (and equivalent Mitsi, Nissan, Toyota, etc), and their performance potential is well recognised. They're cheap too.

Unfortunately, there are so many I suspect that the owners don't wave at each other to avoid RSIs.

One place I am really looking forward to exploring is New Zealand...Doubt I will be able to bring Rex over, but I am sure I can keep entertained.
