Under those rules, as you were posting under your Yankee AE, you should be banned from this board. Doesn't matter that it was an AE, it was you doing the writing. So why don't you be the first one to volutarily leave?

BlueSkyJaunte 07-21-2004 10:44 AM

It's a slippery slope. As soon as you start imposing strict guidelines and regulation etc., you better be on the ball and moderating 24/7...otherwise you end up with some legal liability for what's posted on your site.

There was a case about this some time ago...don't recall the details tho. Maybe Slacker can remind me.

BlueSkyJaunte 07-21-2004 10:53 AM

Interesting, Lynn, that you try to take the moral high ground and demand these "rules" to keep you from doing bad things.

FWIW I did not know you were Yankee. I'm disappointed to hear it (and your tacit admission of the fact).

Get over it...I must leave myself wide open on the issues, just take me out with what a fool I am (based on facts) and you win the day.

island911 07-21-2004 11:20 AM

Lynn, nostatic has some wise words . .that may help you out.

BlueSkyJaunte 07-21-2004 11:23 AM

Soooo.....two wrongs make a right, then? Is that what you're saying?

Adding divisiveness made this forum a better place?

Truly you have a dizzying intellect.

lendaddy 07-21-2004 11:23 AM

My partner did the R&R for our site, though I and our lawyer reviewed it. If you notice, we "reserve the right", we do not guarantee you won't be offended. Plus we put a good share of the responsibility on the user by asking them to report what they feel was "outside the lines". We also have a couple areas that are anything goes, just like this forum. I think Wayne does a great job here and his site sets a pretty high bar to aspire to. JMHO

"for a short time " !?

^You got THREE (3) (III) Yanker-posts in, before up went the tin-foil troll pic.

edit: would have been two post. . .but "my art" needed the proper time and attention. ;) . . .no one understands me. :D

juanbenae 07-21-2004 11:47 AM

lynn you will forever be painted with yankee's brush. there now is a fowl smell about you and all you contribute here, or there on the tech side. i will compare it to stepping in dog S in waffle stomper boots, its a long time before you can wear those shoes in the house again. in fact i wish you would drop your abc handle and be yankee from now on. wear the skin your comfortable in.

whats that saying about a bbs scorn?

Mark Wilson 07-21-2004 12:43 PM

Maybe LynnsABCs can start a new ID as LynnsLSDs.

ubiquity0 07-21-2004 12:58 PM

I read the title of this thead, "Lendaddy's site rules" as waxing approval... ie. "Lendaddy's site rulez, man!"

Moneyguy1 07-21-2004 01:00 PM

Two wrongs do NOT make a right.

However, three lefts do..........

Lighten up, guys. Where I may not agree with Lynn's approach to what he saw as a problem, I do applaud his efforts to show how zealotry is poison to progress. Personally, I think we could do with a bit less rancor and a bit more civility.

Awaiting the rants.

tabs 07-21-2004 06:31 PM

Hey I just rant and rave under my own name...don't I get a prize or somthin....and that ultra conserative ...rusty nail of a board couldn't handle the likes of me...I bring a STENCH all my own to the party that no one ever quiet gets over......Rave on Lynn and Mull.... Rave On

Lynns-STD ?

Or like k911sc smartly suggests; go with "Yankee911" . .. it's fitting.

Ok, for clarification, Click HERE for the Pelicanparts OT Forum guidelines.

Or, for the lazy ones, I've posted it here:
Quote:

Forum Guidelines
OK: to make this forum an effective place, here are some guidelines for us to live by in this Off Topic area. As the moderator of this forum, I will do my best to serve your needs.

1. No flaming: debates are ok, but responding to threads just to incite or start an argument or conflict is not permitted. Personal attacks, if hostile in nature, are not allowed.

2. No pointless threads or excessive posting allowed: Yes, this is an off topic forum, but let's keep the subject matter of an intelligent nature. If you're bored, play a game on your playstation or better yet, wash your car! Posting responses to increase your 'number of posts' is also not allowed.

3. Absolutely no pornographic, objectionable, or illegal material allowed. No pictures, links to pictures, discussion of porn...etc. is allowed. Objectionable material includes graphic gore, tasteless jokes, and any off-color subject matter. Such posts will be deleted, and such posts are grounds for banning.

4. No discussion of any illegal activity permitted. This not only jeoparizes Pelican Parts and Wayne, it will ultimately jeopardize you! Linking to any site that deals with illegal activity is not allowed. Posting information on how to defraud a company or misuse a product or any promotion of any illegal activity will not be tolerated. Again, such posts are grounds for banning. Observe all copyright laws when posting copyrighted material.

5. Do not impersonate other people or use fake aliases. Only one userid per person allowed.

6. No profanity allowed. Make every effort to express your views without resorting to trash talk.

7. Respect other's privacy: no posting of pictures, phone numbers, email addresses...etc. of another individual without their permission.

There will be posts in the off topic area that will have heated debates. Please approach such threads with caution: be as clear as possible in posting your views, so you won't be mis-interpretted. Heated debates are good, as long as people enter them with a mature attitude and are willing to "agree to disagree." Mutual respect goes a long way.

I don't believe these guidelines are unreasonable. Let's have fun here, but keep the peace too.

Have fun!
-Zoltan.

Regarding point #1: There has been an increase of personal attacks and flaming recently. I suggest that EVERYONE ease off on that a bit. With the elections looming in the not so distant future, I am sure that there will be more heated political debates here, which is fine. Mud-slinging will occur, but let's refrain from personal attacks, ok?

Regarding point #5: LynnsABCs - you are in violation of this. Upon your verification, your 2nd alias of Yankee911 will be deleted. You have a PM.

Many thanks,
-Zoltan.

lendaddy 07-22-2004 10:35 AM

Like I said Z, this site is a model of BB excellence in my opinion. Well done.
