Thinking Of Buying A Pantera....Anyone out there driven one??
Hi All,
Thinking Of Buying A Pantera....Anyone out there ever driven or better yet, owned one?? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1090650275.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1090650293.jpg |
I've never driven one, but they are cool as hell...not too mention rare..
|
I have never had one either but I certainly would. VERY cool cars
|
On Ebay they seem to fetch about 20.000.......they've got Ford Muscle car engines......sounds fun.......
|
do a search. I think they've been discussed in the past (try searching all boards). As I recall there are some "issues", like crappy brakes and other things. Look cool, but not a stunning driver.
|
Are Deloreans bringing anything these days? Weren't they kind of a turd?
|
hhhhmmmmmmmmm.........
Since I have superficial tendencies and am materialistic.....do you think I could buy it purely for it's looks?? .......I think yes ;-) |
deloreans have volvo engines....yyyyaaawwwwnnnn....they fetch between 8000 and 12000
|
One is on my list .....
They have a 351 in the back... I have seen many that are absolutely beautifull !! The stock setup needs some modifications, but there are those that are as original as can be. I say, if you can do , DO IT !!!! but pick over it with a fine tooth comb.. Don |
name some other cars that run a 351
|
Early '70s Ford LTD ran the 351 Cleveland.
|
Ranchero and the Torino also. My old Ranchero got me in lots of trouble
|
Mercury Cougars in the early '70s
|
i think they are very cool cars. Theres a guy in town who has 2. I know this because I help push one off the road a week ago as it broke down. Seems they have some tendencies to have fuel problems, but are fairly cheap to repair. He also mentioned he buys NOS parts off eBay cheap.
As for the Deloreans, I like them as well. However, you can never get them to look good with the ss finish. John |
Panteras are cool. A girl i went to highschool with - her father had TWO.
Given the choice between a DeLorean and a Pantera, however.... gotta take the DeLorean. Sure, it's a slug - but what a cool-looking little slug. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1090678892.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1090678906.jpg |
Italian Rust. When bleeding the cooling system raise the front up about two feet. They like to go airborne if you get the early models without the aero aids. Buy the latest one you can find.

Early Panteras (pre- '74) had serious cooling system issues. Make sure updates have been done. Otherwise strong mechanically but typical Italian electrics.

Nice car, light, with a 351 |
An even cooler car is the predecessor The DeTomaso Mangusta.
Not cool in the sense of being cool, because they were a bit like driving an oven, but cool in the looks/exclusivity sense. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1090714324.jpg One was featured in Kill Bill Vol.2 |
My Dad had one when I was growing up. A wicked car...
My room was above the garage and when he started it up on the weekends it would shake me out of bed. Even with cooling updates it would overheat in traffic. He took out the small window and fake plastic piece behind the doors and made an air scope that improved the overall look of the car. Great car in a straight line! |
