Ronin, I always bought into the feminist lie too. My bad; thanks for the knowledge update.

As to freight trains and dirt roads, I first thought it would be a compliment -- the train is so attracted to a girl's beauty, it would leave it's tracks! Then I did some hunting and discovered that many consider it an insult; don't know why.

Still trying to figure out 4-square dooger -- speeder, wasn't that you that used it? What's it mean?

Here's a couple referring to a highly arrouse male's utensil:
Harder than Chinese arithmetic
Harder than a skillet handle

The big dirt nap

that chinese arithmetic one is funny. but i guess the author of that one, thought it was hard because he didnt realize that mathematics is universal. yes even in japanese :D

Maybe he's never used an abacus?

Dooger= dog, (at least in Minnesota when I was a kid), "4 square"= complete (anything)...... Didn't mean to start so much confusion. "Freight train take a dirt road....", definitely means ugly where I'm from. The train would leave the tracks to avoid her.

Should have just said, "If I had a dog that looked like that, I'd shave its ass and teach it to walk backwards". ;)

I always liked: "She's hangin' on him like a cheap suit", or "I'm all over that like a can of Sherwin Williams..."

Got it -- tnx fer the explanation. Now that I know what it means, I'll probably start using it. :) lol

One more: "It's like beating your head into a brick wall, only more frustrating and less productive."

I like the one when refering to a nearly impossible situation..."its like herding cats..." so appropriate in so many work type situations....

From city slickers..."I'm happier then a puppy with two peters..."

someone lost, or moving around aimlessly: "wanderin' around like a fart in the underwear"

temperature: "it's colder than a witch's tit in a brass brassiere"

djmcmath 07-29-2004 06:54 AM

Which reminds me of another -- I've always enjoyed "colder than the balls on a brass monkey." People at first think I'm a pervert, then I explain the nautical history of the phrase, and they realize that I'm just a Navy-dork. :)

Oh wow (wiping away the tears), that was just hysterical. You really got me.

One I've heard recently:

"He's all hat and no cattle!"

Dan, that brass monkey line reminds me of my all time favorite television quote.
On one episode of MASH it was extremely cold. As the first colonel entered the tent (the guy before colonel potter, can't remember his name right now) he said " better keep the brass monkeys inside tonight" I don't think he was referring to cannon balls. ;)

djmcmath 07-30-2004 12:02 PM

hahaha, that's awesome! "Better keep the brass monkey inside tonight." I can imagine a salty senior military person saying that, too. :)

doing something useless: "swinging a dead chicken"
