The stunning pace of scientific achievement...
Francis Crick, co-discoverer of the DNA double helix is dead at age 88.
What amazes me is that in his lifetime, he saw the first DNA helices and witnessed the completion of the human genome project. That is a remarkable amount of science for one lifetime.

A sad day for all the biotechies/molecular biologists.
Jim Watson gets lots of press but Francis Crick was actually the man in molecular biology for a LONG time. I have much respect for Crick and little or none for Watson whom I think of as a hack and now a doddering fool.

yeah, but the *real* discoverer died in '58 (Rosalind Franklin).
