Used P-Car Pricing
What's the most you would pay for an 1984 911 Guards Red Targa. I saw one in the paper with 320k on the clock and the owner is asking $16k. Is this a little excessive? The car would have to be in pristine condition wouldn't it.
|
way too high. maybe a 10K car. nobody wants a car with 320K miles.
|
Even $10K sounds a little high, but it would really depend on what has been done and what the records show.
|
I'd say this car was driven regularly and well-maintained in order to cover 320k miles. As long as the engine and trans have been rebuilt at some point, I would consider it if I was looking for a 911. Surely he'll come down on the price.
My Z has 361k daily driven/documented miles. |
In So Cal, where the roads are in terrible repair, I can't imagine 320K miles leaving bushings unbattered. So I'd be looking for a big stack of receipts.
But I wouldn't actually be looking at all, because an open car (Cab or Targa) with those miles on our crummy roads is going to be a bit of a flexy flyer. I bought a '72 coupe about 2 years ago that was representad as having 388K miles, and it was tight & rattle-free, but it came from Arizona, so YMMV. |
I was debating about buying a twin car. I paid 10k for mine with 175k when I bought it so I was thinking 16k was way too high for the mileage.
|
hey, 80thousand more miles and the odometer would read zero again. 10k is too much.
