Ferrari & Maseratti store of Beverly Hills
My little nephew came out from Brooklyn for the weekend before going off to spy camp in San Bernardino. He doesn't get out to L.A. much, but now at 13, he has a new-found fascination with cars.
I took him to Rodeo Drive so he could get some automotive eye-candy. Well, to say the least, he needed insulin only after two blocks. He completely O.D.'d when we stepped inside the Ferrari/Maseratti Store on Wilshire and Canon Drive. There were about 15 F-cars inside there and a smattering of M-cars. Here's my favorite that was inside the store (though this is an auto show photo): ![]() They sell only gray market cars; so who knows where they've been and with whom. But still, they were nothing to sneeze at. But priceless was the kid's face. It was ![]() ![]()

When in LA, I like to go to Modena Motorworks... right around the corner from Grandma's house (La Cienega, 800 block). Really eclectic collection shows up there... last time I went, lots of old Harleys, an Indian or two, a 356, a matched set of Dodge Chargers, a Dino, etc. No bad attitudes from the employees/owner re: drooling on the windows either.

If I had a Challenge Stradale 360, I'd treat it no better or worse than my Porsche - and daily at that. Hard to say if it (or I) would hold up, but what the hell; it wouldn't do me much good in the garage.
My nephew was hilarious, though. We were in shorts, tee-shirts - the whole casual attire, and he keeps saying to me, "They're not going to let us in. They're not going to let us in. Lookit' how we're dressed." And I said, "In L.A., they let everyone in. They don't know who we are." Sure enough we did everything but sit in the cars - they don't let anyone do that unless you're plopping down a "down."
