Who is this "lordgrommit" guy, and how is he (still) a mod?

This is Overpaid Slacker, reporting from Long Beach...

I've had a lot of fun on these boards, and exchanged barbs with many folks I now consider friends (or friendly adversaries). Z-man and I have had some exchanges, which I enjoy, but every day when I check in, I notice that Z-man is supposed to have a partner-in-moderation... this mysterious "lordgrommit." I, for one, don't think this "lordgrommit" character is exactly carrying his weight around here, snuffing out prurient images or censoring overly profane posts...

Why does Z-man have to carry all the burden of herding these crazy OT cats, when this alleged "lordgrommit" guy hasn't checked in since February of '03? Is "lordgrommit"a relative of Wayne's who is on the nepotism payroll? What is this, some kind of public service parastatal where you don't have to actually do anything to collect your salary?

I feel for you, Zoltan (a/k/a "Mr. 'edited for content'"). I hope you get hazard pay.

Just for the record, I'm not bitter b/c Grommit put Feathers McGraw behind bars, mind you. I'd just like to trade banter with another Nick Park fan ... and maybe avenge the misunderstood penguin whose standard I bear. :D

Perhaps "lordgrommit" was superannuated ... but then he should be "lordgrommit, moderator emeritus."

If there's a mod spot open, I nominate Tabs. :D

is roninlb looking for a possible appointment to a moderatorship here?

im think its either him or maybe rickm? who would you nominate to replace the asleep at the wheel grommitlord?

RickM 08-02-2004 11:12 AM

Actually, it's JP (Overpaid Slacker) using Ron's PC and Pelican ID.

RickM 08-02-2004 11:16 AM

BTW, I think Ron(inlb) or Overpaid would make fine overlords.

juanbenae 08-02-2004 11:23 AM

oh yeah, i read this first yesterday morning on my girls computer and forgot that. did not post then because i forgot my password.

i do nominate rickm to replace the grommit. heres why-

whos here more than rick?

hes never in the middle of the OT pissing matches, as far as i can recall. thats shows he wont take a side,,, tech's or lynns (or yanker or whatever he calls himself these days), just judge fairly.

seems to be well informed on many fronts.

he's not the grommitt.

hes an eastcoast guy,, he will have an oppertunity to get things cleaned up from the nightime crowd before the sun hits the mid and west coast areas.

he might bring some balance to the dictatorship currently in place here in ot.

if the zman fights it we know itas the right thing to do...

tabs as moderator? THAT is crazy talk......

RickM 08-02-2004 11:37 AM

Z-man 08-02-2004 01:24 PM

Oh boy....

Z-man 08-02-2004 01:25 PM

BTW: Whatever happened to Old Skul? He used to help moderate the OT Dungeon... :)

RoninLB 08-02-2004 02:03 PM

I nominate nostatic.

juanbenae 08-02-2004 02:45 PM

tabs has been creepy quiet on this one....

Perhaps we should have an official week-long nomination thread, followed-up by a week-long poll, only after each nomination has been seconded and accepted.

Each member can only vote once on polls, so there's little chance of people selecting the wrong candidate, hanging chads or donkey votes.

Whaddya think?

I try not to, but if I have to I guess those guys that are interested should come forth and we'll vote.

I think you should be in charge of managing the whole thing Adam.

I think Z-man is doing a great job, but it's a heck of a burden to carry. If he wants co-mod help, let's have a poll. Should we have a minimum time on the board to be nominated? I'd say minimum number of posts, but there's a lot of people who've been here a couple of months with tons of posts.

I don't care if someone's got a p/o/v, as long as they don't use their agenda to unduly quash opposing viewpoints.

Not sure Wayne would go for such nomination process, but it can't hurt to try.

I agree Tabby has been eerily quiet about this...

absolutely. I took it for granted that Z-man is considered the big boss around here.. sorry Z-man, no offense intended.

Adam 08-02-2004 04:02 PM

Me neither, but I think he really needs a (reliable) running mate.

do I get a secret decoder ring? Or perhaps finally get to eat at the big kids table during Thanksgiving? Or maybe this is just the thing that will get me in tight with the cool crowd that hangs out a 7-11 after hours.

I'm not sure though. I'm kinda counting on winning the presidential election with my write in campaign. "Do you have less static than you did 4 years ago? Well, it's time for nostatic." Catchy, eh?

sounds good to me.

I'm vote #1 for nostatic.

Wow! Talk about VETO power....hehe....

Ok - is there anyone here interested in helping the OT Dungeon master? Please submit all applications in person - go to the eerie castle at the edge of town, find the dungeon, and my office is just past the racks and the iron maidens...

Seriously, if anyone's interested in being an OT Mod, please PM or email me. Thanks.
-Z-man.

PS: Thanks for the kind words as well. "Just doin' my job."

How about you starting a new post and let it run for at least 2 or 3 weeks due to vacation season.
