no sub, wings? i agree anything is possible, and Porsche has even made helicopters, but i think Porsche will leave the flying to DeLoren and Michel J Fox, and keep the rare, awesome charateristics of the rear engine layout.

Your shorter gearing means you have to shift more often during a drag race and the Cayenne turbo is an automatic which doesn't need to shift more than once to beat you to 60mph. That alone probably means you're at least 0.2sec slower if the engine/weight issues are equal otherwise. The Cayenne is also 4 wheel drive which lends traction a plus over your 2 wheels. |

traction was not an issue....it was a rolling start from approx. 10 km/hr. (thank you just the same - all you folks that were worried about the alleged perp's clutch). The Cayenne driver successfully pulled a gutter snipe . (gutter snipe (adj):meaning to pass by taking the outside lane knowing full well that the lane has parked cars in it further up the way.-in this case 100 meters. the margin at this point was 1.2 Cayenne lengths.(and a frightened look in fat cat' smirror). In the excitement I barely notice 2 long black robes out of the corner of my glazed eye .....i digress. Top of 2nd gear ... into third... indicated speed of the perp 160km/hr ( please note all speeds metric out of respect for the ROW !!)

Fyi, according to a quote I just read by Walter Rohrl, the Cayenne Turbo lapped the Nurburgring in 8:42. For Comparison purposes and to dispel the idea that the Cayenne turbo is faster than the 996 (any 996), the 320 hp Carrera 4S did a 8:16, the early 300 HP 996 did a 8:17, a 320 hp Carrera 2 did a 8:20, and a 993 Cab did a 8:28.

The top speed of the Cayenne is drag limited to around 168 and does about 5.2 0-60 (4.8 for the Turbo S). While the Cayenne is an amazing machine, it still will not keep up with any 996 on a track or on the autobahn. |

Think you were 'only just' beaten off the mark by a Cayenne Turbo? Just wait till the next set of lights - pull up, lower your (manual) window and scream at the Cayenne driver 'I hate you, I hate you, I wish I were never born'. Then sit back and see how quickly they can get away from you when they are really trying... |

My car has beat a Cayenne S by about 4 car lengths or so up to 95ish mph from a 5mph roll on probably 10-12 occassions. You will not be anywhere near a CTT, I don't care how good of a driver you are. He only needs to stomp it, and this guy who you raced obviously just wanted you to hear a little bit of growl from the exhaust, otherwise you would've been a zip code behind by 150. good evening.

Those pepper wagons are fun to dust in a Jeep, even the 500 hp variety...little bit cheaper too... There is a donkey that lives in my hood with the super duper Cayenne Turbo S...120k I think. That is alot of sausage to lose to another SUV at 45k.I don't race anything in my Carrera - Camry's and Accords will dust you. It has it's place, it's a great car. Stop light drags are best left to cubic inch displacement. Technology and performance is a great thing...our old P-cars have been left in the dust...time to get over it. -Jeff

I'm glad I have my 25 year old collector car license plates. Now I don't get any attention from racers and ricers.

Two years earlier it was a much different story, since they thought I was driving something much newer and faster.

If you clipped the nun though my guess is that you'd hit her mid-calf. (or mid shin if she was trying to use her evil powers of baby jesus to stop you)... that'd make her pivot point way up higher on the body, yes? In that case she might have done a header into the top of your windshield, but I'm guessing the momentum would have flipped her up and over - where she probably would have bounced off your spoiler. If she had any style she'd stick the landing, but Nun quality is way down these days.

Either way it's like 5 or 6 hail marys max. I think it's 5 if she sticks the landing. Kitty, I got a huge chuckle out of this thread. Thank you for making my morning a little lighter. "Gutter snipe" Hahahaha...never heard the term before, but I love it! ![]()

Please stop being such a sore loser and own up to the fact that you and your car in their current configuration will never beat a Cayenne Turbo. Until then, we will all collectively continue to point and laugh
