My mouse trap
 

So I've had this noise in my wall for a day or two, scratching, and scratching. I go up in the attic and look around and I look down a drywall bay with no top plate (shame on the builder) and I can see a mouse stuck at the bottom and he can't climb out of the drywall. So I send down a rope for it (don't know its sex) to climb its been there 2-3 days, so I figure its hungry and weak, so I send down a couple of peanuts and a splash of water (nourishment) so it can make the climb up the 10 foot rope. My concern is getting it out of the drywall bay, not having it die there. Then, I set a couple of traps at the end of the rope. I'll see what I get in the morning. I just want it out of my wall. Am I the great white (humanitarian) hunter or what? I have the same problem with the Aston Martin DB4, the mice love the leather, wool carpet and cloth wapped wiring, so I have to set traps in it. "Build a better mouse trap and the world will beat a path to your door", or so they say. I'll let you know if its a mouse rescue (it got away) or a better mouse trap.

It would less cruel to attach the traps to the rope and thow it down the bay to catch the mouse at the bottom. Then pull it out dead. Nourishing it back to where it can climb up 10 feet of rope to get killed it pretty cruel if you ask me. And since you posted it here, you must be asking ;)

I agree with using the traps. More interesting to me is that you are living in a home that I assume was built after 1970 and can drop something 10 feet straight down between the studs. What this means is that your builder failed to include 2"x4" braces between the studs for firebreaks between floors. That has to be a zoning violation.

It got out and got away. Your right about the fire stops and top plates, its a 1970's tract house and i think the building inspector was on the take.

Was anybody reminded of the scene at the Cliffs of Despair in Princess Bride? "I swear, on the sword of my father blah blah blah, I will not kill you until you reach the top!" lol
