Ok ... so does an employer have the right to declare what behavior is and is not acceptable? Had the policy been in writing, would it have made a difference?

I gotta be honest, there are times I wish I could dictate a sailor's diet. 41% body fat and rising, and you're eating _another_ box of donut holes!? I have to wait _how_many_ physical readiness test cycles to get rid of you for this problem!? Aargh...

Well, if you came into my lunch room and ate a live snake, I'd fire you. If you drank warm elk's blood, you're gone. Yet cultures do this. Can we not rid ourselves of obnoxious people who push themselves rudely on to others? She ought to have known damn well what the effect of the bacon was going to be, or she's too stupid to have a job in the first place.

If you read between the lines on these deals, you mostly find a lack of innocence on the so called wronged party. I'd like to know what kind of a little tramp she probably is and ALL the circumstaces under which she was dismissed. Such as, was she chewing with her mouth open dropping food on the floor? Don't laugh. Today's manners are despicable. Was she talking about or describing the BLT? IOW, flaunting it?

AND SHE'S SUING?????? I've had people working for me since 1974. Most were damn good. Only a few of us at any given time, so we had to get along. Now, I can't even get anyone from my same race to work with me. So, there are going to be cultural differences. The fact that they can gross me out and then sue ME because they are different JUST REALLY PISSES ME OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope she chokes to death on her pork fat!

I am definitely against the lawsuits. This is more or less a common sense issue in my opinion. If she knows that eating pork or these types of products on company premises is not the best thing then she shouldn't do it. I think she can go out and get a pizza or a BLT but if she wants it but to bring it back and flaunt food, that is a whole other story. From the employer stand point, if they fire her strictly on this issue then they are going to face discrimination (the way our system works) but if they fire her for another reason then they are not liable (at will employment). If she does bad work etc. I hate frivilous lawsuits. They waste valuable money for the courts that can be better used to help kids through school and provide better for those in need.
