George W. Bush is a liar. He has lied large and small. He has lied directly and by omission. He has misstated facts, knowingly or not. He has misled. He has broken promises, been unfaithful to political vows. Through his campaign for the presidency and his first years in the White House, he has mugged the truth—not merely in honest error, but deliberately, consistently, and repeatedly to advance his career and his agenda. Lying greased his path toward the White House; it has been one of the essential tools of his presidency. To call the 43rd president of the United States a prevaricator is not an exercise of opinion, not an inflammatory talk-radio device. This insult is supported by an all too extensive record of self-serving falsifications. So constant is his fibbing that a history of his lies offers a close approximation of the history of his presidential tenure...

I, too, am concerned with statements made by the administration, but I am not totally convinced that some of them were malicious. My take is that some were to (a) save face (b) perhaps keep information from getting into the wrong hands and (c) lack of complete and accurate info in the first place. I, for one, would have considered it a plus had the President said. "I was wrong" and moved on. This would have deflected some of the sniping from the other side of the aisle. Think of it this way. What would have happened if Clinton had said: "Yeah..I got a BJ. So what?"

My biggest problem is how the reasons for Iraq (not Afganistan) have morphed over time from (yeah, he's gonna say it) WMD to ridding the region of a cruel dictator (with which I agree, and would have been reason enough). This has led to a situation that was, even by General Franks "not anticipated". Not much in the way of gratitude for our noble efforts, probably due to a lack of consideration for the cultural differences of the area.

I'd accept what Corn says as facts about as fast as a liberal would accept Hannity or Limbaugh as facts. Try again.

I have no problem with some degree of deception. Every politician does it to circumvent days of discussion and get to the solution. Every politician has to move ahead with 90% of the facts when wiaitng for the last 10% will prove disatrous.

The problem is that when an administration claims that it will have a superior level of integrity and then ends up being more dishonest than the previous administrations, somebody has to be held accountable.

So Tech it is the "more integrity" lie that makes you angry..... you said it your self....every modern Prez has lied to the people in some fashion. Whats new?

The Bush admin is very wary, and thusly secretive...they are afraid of a liberal media swerking them over the coals over any little thing. As a result they are close mouthed, and that makes them seem disingenous. to some people.

If you watch the Bush admin very carefully and without bias...you begin to notice that they are self corrective....they will change direction once they have determined something isn't working...However with Irwreck they broke it so they now own it, and they have been trying to peddle it ever since.

i'll put the question here:

was ronald reagan the president that labled ketchup as a vegetable? i seem to remember that, (i was young) it was to reduce cost at the school lunch program, right?

Farmer walking through town sees a sign

"PAINLESS MULE TRAINING"

Asks the proprietor "That true?"

The proprietor answers "Yup..My training don't urt the animal".

Man decides to bring his contrary MULE in for training.

Proprietor walks around the animal, sizes it up, grabs an axhandle and whacks the mule right between the eyes. Hard.

"What did you do that for?" screams the farmer. "You said the training was painless!!"

The proprietor turned, smiled and answered. "Yup. The training is painless. Have to get the mule's attention first."

The actual quote was "facts are stupid things...er I mean stubborn things I should say"

Reagan immediately corrected himself.

It was uncharacteristic of Reagan to make that kind of error in that situation, but that will forever be part of his legacy. No one will remember the immediate correction he made without pausing.

Craig, They wont remember the correction becuase that was a fact and as Tech has pointed out they are stupid.
