The Boss stands against the W
Bruce Springsteen to participate in concerts to support ridding the Whitehouse of Dubya
...well I guess if the Boss says he's gotta go - he's gotta go!

hurrumph!
they get paid to entertain us, not to have opinions. If they want to have an opinion, they'd better be prepared to lose some fans.

I live in Bruces hometown, where of course he is idolized. but being that this town is pretty conservative, hes got alot of people pissed!
Not that he lives here anymore, he's got his big waterfront mansion over on the shore, away from the little people. ![]()

Everyone should be entitled to their opinion, and free to publicly voice it, whether they be The Boss, The Terminator, the Swift Boat Vets and even M. Moore. That's what makes this country great; diversity of opinions.

I think that it is good that people are speaking up and expressing their free speech. I really don't know if either one is right for the job but I am not hiring the President by myself. I will definitely exercise my right to vote when I have a chance to see which will do a better job. I really wonder how any of us can make decisions for or against the president until we are put in his position and see all of the information that he sees and uses to make a decision.

wow, listen to the tightie righties squeak! Don't tell me you poor guys are a little discouraged that one of your idols has gone over to the dark side?
Bruce is just like me (or wants to be, ahem) - he's a republican that thinks that W has turned against the good of the nation (and of the party) economically, socially and in international relations. Don't worry - Bruce hasn't gone to the dark side - W has!

Joe, I just want entertainers to entertain thats it! No more no less!
Just sing, dance, act or whatever you get paid to do. If I want political commentary, I'll turn to the op-ed page. Or come on here! ![]() BTW. Never was a Bruce fan anyway...

What's hard for me to understand is why anyone would be the slightest bit supportive of the White House Liar. Oh, wait a minute. He promises REVENGE (a Christian principle?). Is that why you guys like him? I can see little reason outside this.

If you'd lie about your sex life, what else would you lie about? If your integrity can be sold that cheaply, what else are you willing to sell cheap?
People perpetually accuse Bush of lying, though they can't point to the specific elements of the crime (1, that the accused made a statement; 2, that the statement was false at the time that the accused made the statement; 3, that the accused knew the statement was false at the time the statement was made) and argue in a detailed and logical fashion. I see a lot of name calling, but no convincing arguments. As with other crimes, I hold Bush innocent until proven guilty. Meanwhile, Clinton demonstrably lied. The only thing standing between him and conviction of lying was the definition of the word "is." The issue of getting a BJ in the Oval Office is almost moot, compared to the issue of lying. Like so many others have said, had he just owned up to it, it'd sit a lot better with me.

Vin..I would agree with you. Entertainers should entertain
Entertainers like Hannity, O'Reilly, Franken, Limbaugh, Coultier to name a few. (couldn't find enough lefties to balance it out..sorry)

I subscribed to Rolling Stone for many years, finally stopped my sub in the early 90's cuz it became more political and less about music.
So to the topic, I would not go to a concert whether it be Dem or Rep and watch musicians sing and bad mouth another political party along the way. Just not my idea of having a good time. That being said, I doubt there will be very many people at these venues that will be swayed by this kind of show. Mostly it will be Dem's/Liberals that have already made up their minds. So, I guess it's a series of Dem musical pep rallies. Don

This thread is another reminder that many right wingers and bush lovers can't stand to hear any other opinion than their own.

Before you right-wing fanatic crybabies get all bent from entertainers legitimately (not like Ronstadt) organizing entertainment for a political cause, I point to you Toby Keith, Bruce Willis, Schwarzennegger and a whole bunch of other entertainers who plan to demonstrate their talent for the Republican side when the RNC comes about.
![]() The only difference between the two is the left has by far better "talent" than the "right."

Politics in general has gotten so vile, who would want to listen to anyone else. You have people dug in on both sides and there isn't much discussion going on. Mostly arguing.
Only reason I added to this thread is that music is one of things in life I love, and I certainly wouldn't mix it w/ politics. So I naturally wouldn't go to a musical political rally on either side.

Has anyone here actually listened to BS's lyrics? Most of his lyrics are political, I guess some people are just too dense to realize it.

Not just Bruce, but much of popular culture has political aspects to it. Of course you won't find much pontificating of things left and/or right in "Friends," but many of the musicians in this 30-concert pro-DEM series, have for a very long time written politically-oriented music.
During the Russian revolution, after the Czar and his family were murdered, who do you think was killed next? The poets, playrights and painters - all of whom represented the culture the revolution sought to bring down.
