Joe has Panic Attack - Useless Carrera Fog Lights - a cure?
Scary incident with the Carrera on the weekend. In my middle-age comfort zone, I'd almost forgotten what a feeling of panic was like. This may sound trivial, but really - you had to be there...
I pull up to a red light behind a couple of "young people" in a Plymouth Acclaim kinda car. Stereo is cranked (Acclaim - not mine), windows are down and the rastifarian driver and passenger are puffin' something. Light turns green - Acclaim stays put for a long time. I bump the horn. Rastifarians attempt a launch but stall Acclaim, lurching forward a coupla feet. Engine cranking begins with copious exhaust smoke and rattling. I have nowhere to manouver - single lane and dim-bulb in SUV has now pulled up on my rear bumper. Rastifarians ignite engine and attempt re-launch. Unfortunately Acclaim is in reverse. Fortunately Acclaim stalls again mere inches from my front bumper. I am now madly waiving at the stunned woman in the Honda Pilot behind me to back up so I can get way from these morons. I have the top down on the Carrera, so she can clearly see my arms flailing, even if she can't hear my screams. Although she has no vehicle behind her - she sits there with her mouth hanging open watching my crazy waving and yelling and the rastifarians belching smoke from the cranking Acclaim. The Acclaim starts up again and panic truely sets in as I hear the rastifarians rev the car to full tilt in advance of their next attempt at a launch (the light has now turned yellow). I have visions of the Acclaim plowing through my windshield. Somehow, someway the rastifarian behind the wheel finds "forward" and lurches through the intersection, all the while spraying a hail of road gravel in my general direction. None of said gravel appeared to hit my car - so I sat at the (now red) light and counted my "lucky stars" that I had emerged relatively unscathed. In an effort to aid my pulse rate in a slow return to normal, I did make a point of tossing my arms in the air and glaring at the woman in the Pilot behind me - but all in all I felt pretty happy about how the whole thing shook out. Then the other shoe drops... Not till we get back home do I notice the one blasted out and the one star-marked fog light, presumably courtesy of my rastifarian pals. I was going to replace these but I got thinking... (1) Amber or white? (2) Replace with Hellas (or other brand) or stay with "factory"? (3) Replace with driving lights instead? Any recommendations?
