Snowboard Equipment
So my son has turned 7 and will be starting to snowboard this year. He's been skiing since he was 4 and asking to snowboard since he was 5. I told him he had to wait until he could take lessons when he was 7.
Anyway, I'd like to pick up some equipment, probably through eBay, and I need some help on boots and types of bindings etc. He's very small at 43" and 39lbs and has a probablem with one hand so I need a binding that's eaasy to get in and out of. John |
I would forget ebay & go to a good ski / snowbaord shop or sporting shop. This time of year you should be able to pick up everything he needs for 30%-50% off retail 9last season's stuff)

Why would you buy anything? He's going to be growing until he's 16/17/18. I say, rent each year until his growth stablizes. If you don't rent, you'll be buying a new pair of boot each year for the next 8 years. Just my opinion. Have fun. :D
EDIT: I've been riding for nearly a decade, my experience with snowboard manufacturers: Burton and Solomon are the best. Burton boots, bindings and boards are second to none. Solomon makes comparable boots and boards, but I don't like their bindings. Buy strap system bindings and pleez pleez get him a helmet. I've had two concussions without mine and 0 after I got it. |
Philip,
Thanks for the input. I prefer to buy and then resell so I don't have to deal with the rental hassles. I'm usually able to sell for at least what I buy for. Thats said, he's a very accomplished skier and already has a good helmet. I'll check out the latest from Burton and Salomon. John |
I would go to nitrousa.com. They are a great company and have awesome equipment. Of course I'm partial as we own the company. If you are interested I can give you our number. You can speak with Kaisha there. She is our in house expert.
