Pic of my temporary toy..

Hi guys,

I bought a Escort RS Cosworth 4WD in the beginning of the summer, right after i sell my 930.

Meaning with this car was to have it while i build my new 930 engine, and i must say... The car is GREAT!!!
The handling is excellent, the only sad thing is all plastic feeling inside.. (like all german fords..)

If you guys have the opportunity to drive one, do that...
I only put a chip and injectors in it and the time was:
1/8mile @ 8.00/144km/h
1/4mile @ 12.52/179km/h

Wow, that's some good times! Too bad we don't have anything on this side of the pond with the name "Cosworth" attached to it. If we did all the F.O.R.D. jokes would disappear...until it broke down. ;)

Just remove the interior and the Plastic feeling will go away, not to mention, you might be under 12 in the 1/4 WOW!!!!

I get the idea Jocke likes white cars! and fast ones at that! :)

Why do we get all of the ugly cars and the rest of the world gets the good- (or at least inoffensive-) looking ones?

RickM 10-27-2004 10:27 AM

You have such a short memory :D

Mmmm Ford Escort Cosworth... Mercury XR4/Ti.... Yummy!

Still not an RS200, but fun cars nonetheless!

BlueSkyJaunte 10-27-2004 10:33 AM

Yes, ye olde XR4Ti.

Compare Jocke's car to the Ford Feces^H^H^H^Hocus SVT, though, and I think it's safe to say that Jocke's car wins in the looks department, hands down.

Are emission standards different in Europe than here in the states?

juanbenae 10-27-2004 11:24 AM

why is the hatch back open in that picture?

TerryBPP 10-27-2004 11:37 AM

How expensive are those cars? I'd love to have one!

Heh. I'm pretty sure that's the wing on the back there...

I frequently find myself wanting to move to europe just for the cars they have.

Dan :)

Stupid question: What is a "Cosworth" Ford and why is it special?

RickM 10-27-2004 01:22 PM

Janus,

Cosworth is a famous engine builder with alot of F1 experience under it's belt. The name is the combination of the two founders: Mike Costin and Keith Duckworth Apparently founded in 1958.

Related to Ford, here's an excerpt from the cosworth history on their website, www.cosworth.com:

"...As the 1980s became the 90s, Cosworth continued to provide winning power, with the Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500 taking the 1987 Touring Car world title and the Cosworth-powered Ford Mondeo winning the World titles for Paul Radisich in 1993 and 1994.

In Formula One, the DFV was replaced by the HB which won 11 races between 1989 and 1993, while Nigel Mansell’s 1993 CART championship and Jacques Villeneuve’s 1995 Indy 500 win were both provided by Cosworth power. In 1994, the Zetec V8 F1 engine was introduced and powered Michael Schumacher’s first world driver’s title. And in rallying, the Ford Escort Cosworth notched up numerous wins during the 1990s and the Duratec-R engine in the Focus gave Ford more success, to take Colin McRae to an all-time win record.

Bringing the story to its conclusion, in 2003, Cosworth provides the power to 30% of the Formula One grid, as well as to the entire CART championship and the Ford BP Rallyesport Focus World Rally cars."

So this old thread woke up...;)

The season ´04 was great for me with this car, i run stunning 11.95sec/189km/h @ 1/4mile with only stage III chip in it.

The engine is thoose cars are superb, original they deliver 227bhp and with the stage III chip youre up to 330+bhp.

This is the look today for more air-supply!

What cool daily driver / grocery getter that would be.

Decent gas mileage?

ValveFloat 10-28-2004 06:50 AM

A small number of these car have been imported and "federalized" by Sun Imports I think. They show up on e-bay occasionally.
A friend of mine has one that he purchased in CO. Like Jocke said, very impressive cars.
