OK, serious question here.
I am dissatisfied with our current leadership (for various reasons) and equally dissatisfied with the major opposing candidate (for equally varied reasons). How do we keep both of these jokers out of office? What (legal) means would it take, at this point in the game, to put someone completely different in the White House? Is it possible?

I'm afraid the only solution to that would be ballistic.

Interesting note; I was having lunch with three very Republican colleagues the other day and they were expressing worry about the possibility of Kerry being elected. I asked them if they could skip the coming election entirely and put Bill Clinton back in office for another term, would they take the deal? All three said yes.
Fascinating times!

Sadly I'm in the same boat. Voting for Nader I think will keep the bozo in office. Which would solve my conscience dillemma. If I had to make a strategic vote, I would have to vote for Kerry - it's got to be better, right? I know Kerry's just a prop, who seemingly didn't stand for much of anything until the Dems needed a candidate, but he has to be in bed with fewer corporations (or Isreal and Saudi Arabia) than Bush, right??? Any the military service thing and his purple hearts, whatever. Non-issue to me.
I'm really scared that one day in 20 years we'll find out some of the conspiracy theories are true.

Sounds like a lot of us agree we have the shallow end of the gene pool at work here....
GWB makes his dad, in retrospect, look very good indeed. What really scares me is if the winner dies in office and that winner is Bush.........less so (but not by much) Kerry......

Here's the magic wand to prevent either of these two from taking office
---------------X In order to use it you must tell us who you propose for the job. ...and it can't be McGreevey. ![]()

Seriously, I'd take any candidate that is down the middle of the two parties. I like some of the Democratic ideals and some of the Republican ideals. As it is, we have a Republican that doesn't act very conservative, and a Democrat that takes the term 'liberal' to new heights. It's either pisspants or give me your pants. As far as legally bypassing Bush and Kerry, just vote for Nader. Uggg, he scares me, also. ![]() |

If Kerry loses, Hillary will run in 2008. Now that's scary.

I'd vote for McCain, despite some of the issues I have w/ him. But my biggest issue with him now is that he's staying "loyal" to the party, and hence cannot run...

I was for McCain last go-round. Seems that there's rumors of some weirdness from his past that was threatened, but I haven't really figured out what it was. He seems to be a fair sight better than either we have now, but maybe I'm crazy.

I think the rumors you may have heard were all pushed by Karl Rove. Like the Push-poll on the eve of the SC primaries where people were asked how they would vote IF they heard that McCain had beat his wife, even though there was no truth to it. I would vote for McCain in a second over Bush or Kerry, but since we don't have much of a choice, Kerry it will be. Plus cantdrv55's comment about Hillary 2008.
