Sad Alien Vs Predator story
http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/Northeast/08/17/popcorn.choking.ap/index.html
So, the 3 year old chokes to death and that is sad and all but what was he doing in an R rated violencefest of AVP to begin with? I'm not saying it contributed I'm just questioning why parents would take a 3 year old to that movie... |
That was my first thought.

OK First!! Don't ever stick your finger down the throat of a person you suspect is choking. You'll only push an obstruction deeper into the victim.
Second! Did you catch Dr.Phil yesterday. He had a single mother who was allowing her 6th grade daughter to have friends over all night, allowed them to smoke and drink. And knowing they were having "oral sex" let her daughters 18year old boyfriend spend the night in the same bed. Makes seeing an "R" rated movie rather tame. |
OK First!!! Why were you watching Dr. Phil????!!!!!
|
Oprah was over?

Oh OK, now I understand I am more of an Ellen fan.

I've never been "in" with the lesbian crowd but I do really like thier movies.

Why does anyone take their kids to night movies, I don't care if it is Shrek 2, kids at movies during the day, 3 year olds should be outlawed at movies past dinner...I have 2 kids under 6 and wouldn't even think about a night movie....but I see it all the time....
|
shrek 2 was pushing the envelope of "kid films". it even had drug references. i thought it was outstanding, tho. poor kid, with the popcorn. that sucks.

I'll bet that tub of popcorn didn't have a warning label on it.

Sounds like Darwinism at work to me.

What would any of us have done in the same situation? Sounds like the blockage was relatively deep.
Wonder if I would've tried an emergency tracheotomy in desparation. |
This was on 1010WINS yesterday morning. I said to the grilf that if I'd been in that theater, wanting and praying for the kid to STFU, I'd feel bad.
adamred- I'm with you, and I thank you for not treating movie theaters as your living room. I've seen very young children in movie theaters (w/ their parents) watching subject matter they had no business being exposed to. I wonder if there'd be a market for private parties to enforce rules such as "No children under 15 after 8 pm". Letterman doesn't allow people under 15 in his audience, for example, and if it's private property, you can do more or less what you please. Taking it a step further, how 'bout "child-free" airplane flights, restaurant sections, train cars, etc. Aside -- anyone remember the Family Guy scene where Brian is stuck next to a shrieking toddler in a restaurant -- God I felt his pain. Too many times. I think this episode was on recently. JP |
