I have yet to pay a cent to Itunes.
But you can search and get a full preview of a song.
You can find bands by what people have on their playlists
But you can't upload songs to Itunes (for instence they don't have a single tool song)

It's my new free way of finding bands, for free and it's a full preview.

I need to get the IPod and the FM converter. I have 48,000 MP3's on my home PC and I want to play them in my car. My 911 has an older Pioneer 6 CD changer and tuner with FM and Cassette, but the cassette IPod interface didn't work very well when I tried it. The CD changer tends to skip when I hit any bumps in the road, so I'm going to sell my Palm Tungsten T2 and buy the IPod! Anyone need a Palm Tungsten T2 with all of the accessories?

Finally broke down and bought an iPod (20G version). First Apple product I've owned. It is extremely well designed and has a great feel to it. Being an engineer, I love stuff like this. There are soooo many products of all categories out on the market where you just scratch your head wondering what they were thinking when they designed it. I haven't found anything like that yet on the iPod. Now back to the long process of converting all my CD's ...... :D

Come to the Dark Side..... :D

I have a 40G with a monster FM adapter for the car.......... carry it everywhere.... a slick secondary Harddrive as well ....

Nice to see Apple drop their prices. AWESOME piece of hardware..............

The only other item that has blown me away more than my IPOD is my harmony remote control. Now that is a home theater owners dream. WOW is all I can say.

Never going back.....

Curt, you should stop by an Apple store and check out the industrial design of their products. I've been in love with Apple products since 1984 when I bought the first Mac. I probably have 10 Macs stuck in my garage, including a perfect 20th Anniversary that I just can't bare to part with, even though they aren't worth anything. The new iMac is just absolutely stunning. If you appreciate simple, uncluttered design (as we all do on this board), Apple products rule! Owning one is a love affair.

I've been tempted to stop and look. The problem is I would probably buy something! My entire home and business is setup with PC's. It would be tough to make a switch but the iPod has really got me thinking.

I think that's EXACTLY what Apple had in mind with people like you. If they were smart, they'd cut the price a hundred bux on those things and treat them as a loss-leader.

I'm loving airtunes too. Being able to stream music to any room in the house is pretty fun. I wait until my wife is peacefully reading in the bedroom, then move the volume slider to "full" and send some Hendrix her way . . .

Yes, Apple is on a roll right now. The OS is excellent, the built-in apps are very good, and the hardware is very attractive. The prices seem to be getting better too. I'm thinking about a new G5 iMac, and when I price out a high-end Dell with the equivalent software and a 20" LCD monitor, I don't get all that much lower of a price.

The final thing that's impressed me is the service. My wife's 3-year oldiBook crashed (hard drive failed). I simply walked into my local Apple Store, waited 20 minutes at the "Genius Bar", and a tech spent 20 minutes working on it, then they took the machine from me, fixed it in 2 days, and I walked over and picked it up. I had to pay (long out of warranty) but it was a flat rate that covered all labor and all parts. With other brands I might still be on the phone to India or waiting for the UPS man.

My wife bought me an iPod this summer. I use it with my band for break music in between sets. Takes minutes to construct a custom playlist from my CD library verses making custom CD's on the PC CD burner. Compact and simple device to hook up to the PA and no disc's to change all night.

I agree with others, just got one and great accessory to have, very compact and convenient.
