Is there a link to some store that sells them so I know what you are talking about? I do have that 30'x50' concrete pad in front of my garage that is just begging for some RC car auto-x!

Kurt,

http://zipzaps.com/

Radio Shack sells them for $14.95! They are 1/64th scale but have progressive steering and throttle. WAY COOL!! Just be sure to get the SE and not the normal Zip Zap. They have all kinds of bodies for them. Unfortunetly the 911 turbo body has been retired. Need to start e-bayin I suppose....

Hi Shawn,

What's the difference between the regular and the SE? I visited the local RS at lunch and all they had was the regular one.

They did have some "European Body Kits", though, with two colors of the 996 Turbo body, red and black (together in a package). I can send you one if you can't find one.

The SE's have a nicer controller and the steering and throttle are progressive and also have LED headlights. The regular Zips are either on or off for steering and throttle.
How much was the body kit? I have heard they are expensive up there. Here in the US they are $3.95.....

We've been racing them at our house for a couple years and you're right, they are fun! Lately I've been playing with a 1:12 scale GT1 car. It really scoots!

The small cars are fun b/c you can race them anywhere, and they are cheap so no one ever complains ab the cost of entry LOL. The little cones are not that great b/c they move around when you hit them. Better to use something sturdy so you can just keep racing instead of repositioning them every lap or two.

Don't LED headlights add weight? If there was ever a machine that benefitted from lightness...

I'll keep looking for an SE, then. They look like fun

The body kit was CDN$7.99, so about US$6.00. A little more than they are in your neck of the woods. Are these body kits good for an SE chassis, also, or are there SE body kits, also?

The zip zap SE bodies have the lights in them and the regular zips zaps dont. The only zip zap body I have found so far that wont fit the SE chassis is the pink Honda S2000. The wife bought it for her car.

The little cones make it seem like a real auto-X. At least thats what my real auto-X's are like......cones bouncing all over the place.

LOL. My drinking buddies and I are not into "clean" driving, it's rather pure competition touring-car-style... bumping each other and generally concerned with "getting there first" even if it ain't pretty

Cutting out the windows saves weight too LOL (you also don't really *need* any wings...)

I went to Radio Shack after work & got everything on sale including the car (Audi TT), a carrycase, some extra wheels, & a lap timer for $26 including tax. I've always wanted a R/C car & figure this is a good way to learn. Golf clubs work well for setting up a track. Thanks for the idea Shawn.

PS: I'm not gonna bother with upgrades till I learn how to drive it. Yea right, I've said that before.

I have a Kyosha Mad Force 1/8 scale 4wd truck. It runs on Nitro. It's a foot tall and weighs in at 10 pounds. I think the motor is around 3 hp. The thing will run 50 mph and pull wheelies up to about 40. I have issues..............

Another guy at work couldnt resist the pull...... He came in yesterday with his very own Zip. I traded my Skyline body for his Hemi Challenger. My Mom got my son one for his B-day. Now everyone in my family has a 1/64th scale R/C car. Not that there's anything wrong with that.....

umm. so now I bought one for my daughter and another for myself as well. these things are perfect. the carrying case (not the X2 though) is large enough for two cars, their controllers, tons of bodies, and tons of accessories. looks like they are the perfect boredom preventer no matter where you go
