IMO, separating politics and religion is all that needs to be done. I'd like to see the OT car stuff stay with Thimble collecting.

I'm for what ever makes you (the owner) cozy. I certainly appreciate what you provide and realize now that it's been a few weeks since I ordered anything.

I think I need to buy some clear paint for my wheels.

We also need a section specifically for character assassination of Pelican members.

I'm all for that, although I agree that maybe all non-religion non-politics OT discussion could be in the one place (there is a Driver's Lounge now but last time I was there I was scratched by a passing tumbleweed).

How about an alter-ego forum?

As long as Tabs is the moderator for all subforums, I'm good with this.

If I remember correctly the reason OT was taken to a separate forum was because the OT threads pushed the tech threads off the page. People were getting frustrated at having to go back 2,3, or 4 pages to get to a topic that was posted only an hour or so ago. I don't see that happening in the OT forum.

If its OT, then its OT. If you don't look fondly upon people who are simply here to stir up trouble, then why don't you use your power to deny access? They will still be sitring things up, just in a segregated forum.

What about a forum for babes?

Also keep in mind that we have an election coming up. Once Bush is reelected the posts will quiet down. :D

i say leave it alone. i agree about the election coming in 10 weeks, i would think it will bring us all back together for 3 1/2 years. fighting the common enemy again if you will.

a few weeks ago we has discussed with z-man about getting him some help by electing another moderator to help out a bit. might that help? Z what ever became of that?

as it stands,, i just love the smell around here in OT. some days it stinks, others its like a sewage treatment plant, and others yet it reminds me of peeling garlic and that smell that stays on your fingers for hours.

Gotta go with vash on this one...The traffic on the political threads does not warrant its own closet...I vote for the smorgasbord approach. If you don't like looking at train wrecks turn the channel.

It would be interesting to do a poll of the political leanings of those who have offered that there were problems...I know several liberals here have whined about the pummeling they have received at my hands.

The last thing this site needs is more forums that nobody ever looks at, just leave it alone. It's raging success is a testament to its "rightness".

If anything, just moderate it better or set up some rules to get rid of pure trolls. This ain't a democracy, you can do whatever you want. :cool:

Haha - I don't think I've ever seen you ask this and not get hundreds of dissenting opinions. You are certainly a benevolent dictator, willing to listen to your people.

I am happy the way it is - I think the non-politics/religion/etc posts get plenty of traffic as it is, and I agree that in maybe 10 weeks plus 3 weeks time, the political stuff will calm down.

I mean, the number of posts would halve if you removed the anti Bush and Kerry stuff.

I think it is a bad idea. It would be interesting to see how many posts the "whiners" have. This place actually does a decent job of self-policing (with judicious input from the mod(s). There has been a recent influx of pot-stirrers, but likely they will be rapidly ignored if they maintain course.

If you break up the OT forum, the terrorists have won ;)
