Merc 190E - good winter beater?

Thinking the 6 cylinder, say 89-91 or so. Any comments on these?

I'd rather have a 325i from those years.

Probably a wash in the winter, much, much more fun in the summer. Likely easier to work on, too (there are more BMW DIY'ers, more repair info on the 'Net, etc.).

Wintertime and a 15 year old car, with rear wheel drive?

Once the salt begins to fly, get her a 5 year old Camry with a new battery and studless snows.

Mercs are amongst the worst cars in the snow.

A must would be to have snows (studded if legal) and/or cable-chains.

I've been considering a BMW 325iX myself. Tough to find, though for decent prices with good miles...
