Carol Doda pic?
Guys, many of you know I have a term, "Carol Doda car"...usually refers to something like a 912E that has been given a 935 slantnose body kit while still running an anemic powerplant. Well, I recently explained to a friend who Carol Doda was/is. He emailed asking if I had a pic of her on file. I don't. Does anyone here have one that wouldn't be censored off the board??? If so, please post away! ;)

Google. Can you explain why that type of car refers to Doda.

You guys are great! I'll pass the link on. Hmmm, why is it that those who drive Carol Doda cars don't remember her? ;)

Paul:
I actually say her dance in that club in S.F. in the center photo. It was in early '64 when I was headed to Fort Lewis after basic at Ord. She completely overloaded all of my circuts. |
Marv...Ahhh, the glory days of North Beach! :D "Big Al's" the club name...if my faded memory serves...

"great body, but nothing inside" No engine (to speak of) in context of a car. or... No brains (or quality) in context of a chick. Or I guess, it could refer to false advertising or bragging, in which case... Less engine than the body would lead you to believe in context of a car. or... Phony hooters in context of a chick. Take your pick - maybe someone else more familiar with the term will clarify. |
I claim to have coined the phrase way back in the stone age...one of those PCA mall display things. One of the cars there was flared, slantnosed, all made up to look like a 935...all the body parts fiberglass, of course. Underneath all the fakery? A box stock CIS 2.7 911. This reminded me of Doda of silicone injection fame...yes, I said injected...no bags under the boobs. The car reminded me of Carol Doda, Carol Doda reminded me of the car. In my formative hot rod years, we also called such cars "no go show boats"...
