Driving question for NYC/Long Island locals
 

Saturday afternoon (today) gotta get from midtown (say, Lexington and 49th), and gotta get to Jones Beach Theater on Long Island. How long should I budget to get there if I need to arrive by around 6:30? Using personal car, not public trans. Thanks guys!

By the way, haven't been to NYC since '02 and I'm having a great time!

you'll be traveling in the worst possible conditions. Weekend-only drivers, it's a beach day, the Wantagh could be bumper to bumper at 6:30pm if your going to a concert. It could be 1 1/2-2hrs. If you left the city at about 1pm and hang out at the JB beach till it's time you may be more relaxed.

PS: I hope you're not driving the 911

Got it Ron, THANKS. I'm leaving right now then. Catching Dream Theater and Yes at the theater. Just got back to the hotel from the Metropolitan Museum, arrived when it opened. Barely scratched the surface. Had to go running around the modern art wing, that really sucked. I could spend another week in that museum.

The RNC is moving in....ah, I wish I could stay all week. Unfortunately my Marriott points won't hold out that long :(
