997's Invade Ann Arbor 08/25/04

I caught a couple of 997's on the dealer lot, sorry no new Boxster's. They were having a "New owner" orientation that evening and would no let me in the building, WTF! There had to be at least 50 people inside, I wonder if they were learning the secret handshake and how to ignore people with older "rough cars".:D There could of been 997's inside, I caught a glimpse of a winged angle, but did not get the year.

I took my stinky cigar and left with these pictures, enjoy.

This is going to take a while, hold on.

I got an invitation to the local unveiling, didn't bother to RSVP, but I'll try to crash the party later. I'm interested in seeing the car.

My buddy at the dealership tells me there's a lot of new stuff under the skin -- maybe 20% new parts.

I thought Porsche was saying something like 80% new parts? Marketing hey?

It's a good looking car.

There are two different 997's in the pictures. One was parked up front, the other in the back with Georgia "Distributor" plates. Both are the same understated gray color.

It is indeed a good looking car.

Is it just the angle, or is Porsche gradually pulling up the hoodline so the 911 starts to look more like all the front-engine cars?

Yes, I have thought that too.

Also cars like the Crossfire do a fair job of looking rear engined despite their long hood.

We could be entering a David Bowie omni sexual/omni engined design era.:D

Are you saying the Omni was a sexy car? :D

No, but come to think of it my old Super Beetle kind of looked like it could go either way/direction and that front seat went all the way back and down some. Oh the things that you can do if you have a willing partner and are creative and horny.

They went back to round headlights.
Kind of remind me of the 959
