What is wrong with liberals?

They send a consistent message that conservatives are angry, close minded liars, out to fulfill their own selfish needs and not caring about others. I see those exact qualities coming from the liberals on this board. What are you guys so mad about?

we are mad because you people are: close minded liars, out to fulfill their own selfish needs and not caring about others.

they don't believe in a real leader. T Kennedy is pure in his position, no bs with him. Ralph N is the clearest and most defined, but his politics sucks. The Dem Conv is the clearest sign of a two-tier party. Hollywood got the VIP room. B Clinton married the Dems to a politiicized Hollywood. The days of AFL-CIO/blue collar/Democrats are over. The labor unions had a party at the Conv downstairs.

The Dem party has lost its birthright as the labor representative.
It's now a party of special interests that are not bound together by any ideals. Champions of civil rights prevent school vouchers, High quality judges get filibustered because he's Hispanic and would be a threat to ethnic politics, trial&tort lawyers having more control of Senate Dems, etc.

Anyway, Dem anger will eventually prove to be the rantings of a group in the process of being displaced.

so now Kerry has the job of appealing to serious Dems while driving the magic bus that's singing "the Eve of Destruction".
Good luck Kerry.

Not being one, I can only speak for those I have contact with, and to say the least, I honestly don't know what makes them mad. If they are mad, I use a very common and inclusive barometer, which is "What has changed about your life since Bush has been in office?" For myself, I can say honestly nothing.

What changed in my life between Clinton and Bush? Honestly nothing.

Do I feel safer? Well, to be honest again, I never felt threatened.

9/11: extremely unfortunate. But 9/11 also could have happened under Clinton.

Every liberal I know is pissed off as hell, and pissed off at me because I don't know why they're pissed off. I see bumper stickers out here that cry out "Lick Bush in '04" and the like, and I'm left wondering WTF

I do know this: many of these liberals I know command salaries they should blush toward. They drive expensive cars and live in expensive houses, and for the most part send their children to private school.

IMHO I find many liberals disingenuous (sp?) crybabies, which is fine. But what they're crying about completely baffles me.

BTW: In this argument, if anyone adds Iraq, I think that is an unfair topic. Many conservatives are pissed off about Iraq as well as liberals.

Excuse me, but you Bush supporters have NO right to call yourselves conservative. your candidate has expanded Govt faster than anyone since LBJ, run up astounding budget deficits with boondogles like the prescription drug benefit program, and all the while handing sweetheart contracts to their political insider good ol'boy buddies.

A true conservative would support Kerry to restore gridlock to the system before the ultra-liberal Republican party spends us into the ground. Gridlock would restrain govt growth and keep it off the backs of hard working Americans

who's angry? I think you guys are projecting...

Tyson Schmidt 08-28-2004 07:16 PM

I think it's funny that if you speak out against the Bush administration and it's policies on this forum, you are dubbed a "liberal".

I used to be a Republican. Still am, except the Republican party moved 3 miles to the right on most issues, while at the same time became Huge Government, expanding the deficit with spending, while giving a tax break.

Then it wants to control me. I'm a Christian, but I find myself rebelling against the government because it is trying way too hard to inject too many fundamental Christian beliefs into Government policy. Stem Cell research, abortion rights, gay marriage. It's getting scary how control-hungry this administration is.

There is nothing I hate more than a Government that wants to control me. Look at censorship these days. It's gotten ridiculous. They are bleeping things in classic rock songs that i've been listening to uncensored since th 70's. This move to the right makes me feel like I moved to Salt lake City, Utah.

Okay...Bush has gone far far left compared to the Republican party of even Reagan...With all politicians we force them to the middle. In order to compromise, unfortunately, you have to sell-out to the populist message and therefore populism wins...we slowly move to a bigger and bigger, more intrusive, oppressive government that breeds corruption because of the size of the trough.

Hate to break it to ya bro...Christians 10x as fundamental found this country and layed the groundwork to what you see around you. It is the socialist creep that has taken away freedoms, not Christianity. I incessantly hear moderates and liberals evoke this boogey-man of "Christians controlling me," which I find utter nonsense.

Give me the example of a "right-wing" Christian shoving their beliefs down your throat...Never has a Christian group threatened a lawsuit to take the pagan goddess Pomona (the prominent image on the seal) from the L.A. County seal...But we have the ACLU attacking the cross on the seal...We have the ACLU suing the Boy Scouts because they don't agree with homosexual extremists vision of the Boy Scouts...We have liberals demonizing productivity and forcibly removing tax-payer's hard-earned monies from their wallets...under threat of imprisonment no less.

Embryonic stem cell research?....No empirical evidence supports this theoretical postulation...Yet, Bush has allowed it (mind you the first President EVER).

Abortion rights?...You mean the right to kill an unborn child?...Roe never had an abortion and there is no evidence of improvement since the activist Judges allowed these judges to violate the Constitution...That said, I have yet to see a Republican take away a woman's "right" to kill her child.

Homosexual "marriage"?....The American people have spoken loudly and a majority don't want it...The only ones bringing this to issue is the ultra-left "shove it down your throat" liberals...who know the American people don't want it and so they VIOLATE the Constitution AGAIN in order to shape the society into the warped shape they desire.

I have to admit I totally agree with you about the County Seal fiasco. Made me sick to my stomach.

And I'm not down with NAMBLA running the Boy Scouts either. :D

But I really think that abortion is a lot more complicated of an issue than Right wingers make it out to be. I'm sorry, but it just isn't a black and white issue.

dd74 08-28-2004 09:33 PM

I think censorship is subjective. Bush may not like certain reporters and broadcasts, and thus may not allow them as much access to him as others. Otherwise, if there is pure censorship, O'Reilly would be b!tching as loud as Franken.

Censorship in other mediums - music, literature, movies, etc., is strictly a social movement - not governmental.

When I worked for Warner Bros., we bopped around the idea of a Jack Benny cartoon. (I know some of you remember Jack Benny). Well, guess where we got caught up - yep, with Rochester, the black butler. A character like him is completely un PC these days.

Or here's another idea: Do you think Archie Bunker would play in today's world? Hell no.

Bush may try, loosely, to censor the press. But other mediums I just don't think the government can suppress - not successfully, at least.

I think the mainstream are more concerned about legislation from the bench (as the founding fathers were)....But that said, it appears the last thing pro-aborts want it to "iron it out."...All debate is apparently silenced...You never hear about or see debates about the efficacy of abortion, the unaccountability of abortion providers, or the dark side of the aftermath, discussed.

All debate get drowned out by fear-mongering and concocted threats to a "woman's right to reproductive freedom" (which is just a total crock of crap semantically).

I work in the medical field brother...and the last thing pro-aborts want is a discussion of the facts.

RoninLB 08-28-2004 10:13 PM

When I discussed the prob of the Dem machine it may/probably did give the impression that I was aplauding it. If the Dem mgt blows it and 527 groups are still legal we could see a 3 party, or 4 party system. 527's could become as powerful an influence as the Nat'l Ed Ass is today with affecting party policy.. That all sucks imo. It's an inefficent machine to govern our country. We need a 2 party system that allows a Ralph Nader to attend. A 2 party system must by dynamically flexible to exist. A 5 party has to be a little bit flexible. A 10 party system hardly has to be flexible.

that said.. it's a package deal when you play the 2 party game. If you have a serious issue, you gotta really get educated in that subject to avoid 1/2info decisions.

The true manipulators of our "system" is the judiciary. We pick our leaders to represent us. The judiciary attacks "gov't by the People". Destructive leadership burns out. The judiciary doesn't.

party hearty
