I should also note that I contested and won against a ticket for which I was driving 75mph in a 60mph zone about 10-12 years ago because the officer listed my dark blue 1981 Mercury Capri as a black Dodge Shadow. I simply and politely asked the judge how the court could trust an officer to correctly read a radar gun when he cannot correctly read the clear manufacturer's markings on a car or even get it's color correct. Case was dropped with a warning from the judge. ;)

I used to work in DC and there was a story that I heard. I'm not sure if it is true, but totally possible..

Anyway, as in most big conjested cities, there are UPS trucks everywhere as well as other " Delivery trucks " . well, it seems that it was impossible for the drivers to make the rounds within the time alloted without parking in front of a few buildings.
If anyone has ever worked in DC, you know that the one thing that you DON'T do in DC is PARK THERE. There are armies of meter maids with high quotas... (ex-welfare recips )
Anyway, it was not uncommon to see Big brown UPS trucks with multiple tickets on them ( cost of doing business ?? )

So UPS just let the tickets pile up untill the city finally took them to court over the thounds of tickets.

One of the UPS lawyers noticed that MOST of the tickets stated the " Vehicle type / make " was " UPS Truck "... well UPS doesn't make trucks !!!

So, most of the tickets were thrown out..

I think that it's a true story... anyone know for real ???

I got a ridiculous ticket about a month ago... total scam/hatchet job ticket trap.

The guy listed my 86 911 as a 2003 911. WOW I upgraded to a 996?

maybe I should work this into my court defense like Quiet Bloom did...

Sonic, having the wrong car listed is almost always an excellent ticket defense.

My room-mate, many years ago, rolled a stopsign on a foggy California morning in his blue 65 Mustang. 20 minutes later, the officer caught up with him -- having lost sight of him for the entire intervening 20 minutes. The officer then wrote the ticket for a green 67 Mustang. Sweet! Unfortunately, my room-mate lacked the spine to contest it, and just paid the thing.

Sonic, It's a legitimate defense since it calls into question the cops powers of observation and attention to detail. The computer or dispatcher should spit out the make and model of your car based on the plate and if the actual car doesn't match the plate you should be getting a ticket for "fictitous, altered license plates". The fact is no human is perfect and mistakes happen. Another defense is questioning how the cop knew which car (assuming there where other's around) displayed the speed on his radar gun.

Tears while laughing! Literally...had to dry my eyes to keep reading. I also enjoyed the skimpy undies ad that came along after clicking on the site...:eek:
