Squirrel is my new child...

So, I was down in the garage yesterday, and I recued this little guy from a cat. He's only 3-4 weeks old, and barely has the beginning of some teeth. He makes a huge commotion if I try to put him down. He thinks I'm his mom or something I'm sure. I've been feeding him room-temperature milk from a mustard sueeze bottle, and I know that he loves it and it'll help him grow.

BTW - His name is Fuch!

Anybody know the legality of keeping a squirrel in the state of CA, also who I should contact if I want him to grow up in a state park.

They're sure cute when so young.
A squirrel will grow up wild and prone to biting (hard). If you call a local animal shelter they should be able to direct you to a care center or zoo that will be able to raise the animal properly.
Cows' milk is not always the best, nutritionaly, for young animals.

"Hello, my name is Fuch the Squirrel." LOL

He's a cute little guy. I go out to a park at lunchtime to eat once in a while, and I get surrounded by these little moochers. They are relentless.

Anyway, I second calling a zoo to see what they say.

i guess you are not real popular with the cat!

i love the name, people keep flying squirrels as pets. i cant remember what they are called. something gliders? i would check around, you wouldnt want one to bite down on your nuts. peanuts, walnuts, acorns, whatever nuts, you dont want to have laying around.

i wonder if the storing food thing is instinctial, or should you be hiding bigMACs and stuff around in cubby holes? as a life lesson.

I'm gonna keep him until he's fast enough to get away from critters, and then I'll probably turn him loose in the coolest, most squirrel-friendly place possible.

I had a baby squirrel as a kid. My dad fed it milk too. It ran around the house and was fun. When it was full grown we released it outside. It played in the tree for a while. Then it saw we were going back in the house and ran after us. It didn't like to live outside because we were its family. Great pet, they don't bite but scratch the hell out of you.

That's fine. My wife does all the biting, usually when I come home with parts

Talked to the local squirrel adoption lady. Didn't know there was such a thing.

Tonight I'm going to try to get him back in his mother's nest, and hope she doesn't try to kill my @$$!!! If not, she's probably gonna take over. I'm just moving into my new place, and me and the wife work crazy hours.

Better to leave this little guy in the hands of the rich Beverly Hills lady with the fake rack, who knows what she's doing!

What was that movie I saw, with a crazy Kathy Bates trying to sell squirrels to tourists?

When they didn't buy one, she set them up to drive off a cliff.

On the way down, the tourists saw a sequence of signs reading "You...should have...bought...a squirrel!"

Be careful out there.

The movie was "Rat Race".

The flying squirrels are sugar gliders...they're actually marsupials, I think.

look at how big his feet are already!! he's going to be a big one.

i met this guy in off 101 in nor cal between cloverdale and hopland at this joint called "the rock shop", collector rocks and gems and such. he had a big ol grey squirrel in a cage. he let it out after hours he said.

i asked if its name was "rocky" he said "no" and looked at me all stupid. i said "grey squirrel, like bullwinkle, and the fact that this is a rock shop?" he's all "oh yeah i reckon thats funny, and cute all at the same time" dumb hillbilly rock guy.
