Ten most hated Rockers

Agree or not it's an amusing read...

well i don't agree with his summation of McCartney, but other than that I'm tempted to agree

Jason Porter 09-07-2004 11:59 AM

I find the fact that Axl Rose received honorable mention appalling. Those people are just pissed because he won't hurry up and release an album that's not finished to his high standards.

RickM 09-07-2004 12:06 PM

I didn't notice Rose on the list. Apparently their criteria is based on "selling out".

But why don't other out-of-favor "rockers" sell out?

Integrity?

Perhaps.

Or because they merely don't have the draw. Then they're off to painting houses and delivering groceries. What would your choice be?

Jason Porter 09-07-2004 12:09 PM

My most hated rocker of all time...hmmmm...As a Pelican employee I probably shouldn't say any names. But I will tell you he used to be the lead singer of Nirvana.

RickM 09-07-2004 12:14 PM

Jason,

Actually my question was what would your choice be, selling out or delivering groceries. (kinda tongue in cheek)

But your response is very interesting. Especially when many (not me) bow to memory of the guy.

Add the Rolling Stones....

Keith when asked if he trains like Sir Mick does before going on tour...

"Are you kidding I just show up with my guitar."

techweenie 09-07-2004 12:22 PM

Good thing I wasn't drinking milk, or it would have shot out my nose.

I thought I was the only one who would have put McCartney at the top of such a list.

You know, I heard an interview where Sir Paul was trying to retroactively change all the "Lennon-McCartney" credited songs to "McCartney-Lennon" Kick a guy when he can't kick back, why doncha? *sshole.

mikester 09-07-2004 12:23 PM

I don't understand the draw of Curt at all. I'm a huge fan of the band but I don't see what was so almighty special about the guy. I honestly think that Eddie Vedder is a much more worthy subject as he has something to say and at least tries to put up a fight.

Sorry, bud. I put him near the top of my 'most missed' so consider your vote cancelled out!

Believe me, there are plenty of people like me that think that guy was a garbage receptacle for drugs and alcohol. Nothing like the mindless ramblings of a junkie. Not only that, but he never respected his own potential, or real guitarist enough to actually learn how to play...

RickM 09-07-2004 12:35 PM

One of McCartneys lows was when he wrote/performed that pro US song after 9/11. It was a total embarassment.

RickM 09-07-2004 12:39 PM

I have to admit, I'm sad to see Layne Staley (Alice in Chains) gone forever.

I suppose you could have made similar arguments against a lot of rockers -- even Elvis (may have played guitar, but never wrote a song).

Cobain suffered chronic pain all his adult life and tried to dull it with whatever he could find -- ultimately shotgun pellets did the trick.

Ten Most Hated Rockers??

I'd have to say it was my father's Lazy Boy. The padding was worn and that spring would always stick you in your a$$. It was, um,,,,am I a little off base here? Hmmmmmm,,,,,,,,,,,,

mtelliott 09-07-2004 01:05 PM

How do you consider some of these guys rockers? I just don't consider pop music as "Rock & Roll". Therefore, although McCartney should be on the top of many lists, not as a rocker.

And Jimmy Buffett? When did we ever consider country music as Rock & Roll? I don't see Hank Williams Jr on the list anywhere. No, Jimmy's music isn't all country but it's closer to country than it is to Rock & Roll.

I'm not big on Elvis either. I just think it's sad that Kurt Kabang, who wasn't that great alive, gets even more undeserved respect after he offs himself.
