so...is fiscal conservatism a plank now?
I didn't watch the RNC. "Tax and spend liberal" is the usual dogma from the right. So far (even by admission of many Republicans), GW seems to be a "spend and spend" conservative.
Does he have a plan to change that? |

According to my recollection, he's promising improvement in just about every important area of domestic policy concern. Education, environment, economy. All of it. I don't recall him outlining a plan to spend less. But I'm sure you're respectful, Todd, of the notion that republicans understand the complexities of fiscal responsibility far better than mentally challenged liberal thinkers like myself and (dare I say) you too. So, to us it looks like the money for those goals has already been spent, while the problems have been ignored or exacerbated. Our ignorance I guess.
But that's not the important thing anyway. You're silly to ask questions regarding the future lives of Americans. Irrelevant. We're under attack. We're in a fight-to-the-death, so domestic issues pale by comparison with the threat of annihilation by the mongrel hordes. I think I'll start another thread.

Or is this just another waste of keystrokes? (not trying to come across too harshly, Todd. In my view, you are one of the more intelligent and free-thinking people on the board and I'd love to share my opinions with you, I do genuinely believe that you'd listen to what I have to say and not merely dismiss it dogmatically out of hand. I wish I could say the same for others) Actually, you would be surprised at the concern over the administration's expansion of domestic benefits, e.g. the Medicare Discount Drug program.

Todd: quite obviously Bush has no plan here, unless it involves creating service industry jobs - vis-a-vis flipping burgers and making lattes. This is his claim to economic fame. I can tell you this doesn't build my economic confidence in the man.
Now, if you think every Muslim in the world is out to bomb you, that's a different story... BTW: welcome to the "undecided" world.

Kerry wants to spend like crazy on rearranging the chairs, and and paying the band to play, whilst he ignores the damage which an iceberg can inflict to such a big "unsinkable" ship. How much haggling should be made over the price of finding icebergs first. . .or the price of a seat on a lifeboat?

....and the band played on...."My God nearer to thee"........ while the ship of state sinks beneath the waves....Quiet frankly America is in trouble.... 1. External Threat....The Jihadys want to blow us up..... preferably with a nuke 2. Foreign Relations....many of our previous alliances are being rethought..times have changed 3. Currency/financial...The Euro is starting to threaten the dollars reserve status.. cheaper labour rates, trade deficeit/ energy considerations and all that rot 4. Political apathy at home...less and less people vote 5. Lobbyists. it takes big money to run, and special interest groups hold sway 6. Americans are more polarized now than since the Civil War 7. Declining standard of living....what the fk is new here...get used to it... The USA is quiet like the Titanic...many think it's unsinkable, however while the biggest and best it does have it's flaws that can sink it... Question now is...have we hit the iceberg or was it just an ice cube.....Al Zawerie says we are losing in Iraq and Afgan that "Americans are afraid to come out of their trenches"....if the government can't get our troops to fight...
