Remove the Negativity from OT, use this....

I belong to a couple other automobile / motorcycle forums. They have OT sections as well.

As part of the rules for one of them, the below site is posted if you want to post Poitical Comments. The theory is that you are most likely not going to change anyone's mind on where they stand (Democrat / Republican, etc.) and that the Political discussions just reslut in a lot of negative posts.

I have seen this happeneing here frequently. I mean if you want to bash NASCAR, lets just have an old fashioned NASCAR bashing Thread. Why does it have to be tied to Politics?

I miss the days of "I wish my 911 had a V-8", or "Which is better a 911 or (insert any car here)".

The Pelican Grid Girls Thread was a glimmer of hope for the OT forum to return to glory, and the Zombie Thread is classic, but they seem to get lost in the "Bush Bashing" or "John Kerry's Swift Boat Lies"...

I say that if you want to post Political Threads, go here and post your heart out:

http://www.politicsforum.org

If I want to read about them, I will go there as well.

Just a thought.

Bill

Bill, That's a really good site. Unfortunately, it's probably a little too British for most of the Yanks here. That said, a quick peek revealed some very smart people.

good Point Dennis. Odd that it was listed in a US Ford Straight 6 Cylinder forum...damn, guess my thread is a bust..

NOW THATS WHAT I WANT TO SEE!

Todd, you always make me smile.

Well, I'm all for respectful dialogue, and seriously hoping for a return to civility here. Most folks know me as quite respecful, contrary to what I've obviously led some to conclude here. I really really do hope things settle down here, and I suspect they may.

But I also am in the John Lennon camp of peace activism. An unrivaled peacenik, John could really deliver some pointed lyrics, or even black eyes, in the name of peace. Some of these dialogues are just way too important to set aside just because people are getting emotionally wrapped up. Sure, we can switch to breast pictures (which I appreciate as much as anyone), but the public policy debate cannot be swept under the rug. Remember the film Animal House? Remember the couch where they placed all the nerds and foreigners at the frat party? I'm not going to sit on that couch.

911boost 09-10-2004 11:18 AM

come on Sup. You don't want to deal with the nerds?

I agree with your comments, it just gets old sometimes thats all. Every single thread either begins about W or Kerry, or somehow gets twisted into being about them...

Damn....How come he can post pics like that and I can't post pics of a HUMMER? That's just not fair.

Those cost as much as early sport seats on ebay.

speeder 09-10-2004 04:12 PM

True. When I see them like that, my only thought is to check my tire pressure on the car.

With airbags like that she certainly has no fear of a frontal collision.

john70t 09-10-2004 07:26 PM

What if you're just negative and cynical, but apolitical?

(Scary to say this but those look like bubble wrap. All that weight gonna make her look like droopy the dog)
